Position: Wellness Specialist

Location: Lusaka

Key Accountabilities

1. Design and Deliver Wellness Programs:

Develop workplace wellness initiatives aimed at reducing health risks, lowering medical costs, and promoting healthy lifestyles for corporate clients. Also, ability to deliver engaging and evidence-based health talks.

2. Coordinate Wellness Initiatives:

Maintain a comprehensive record of wellness activities, source credible service providers, manage service contracts including pricing, and conduct provider assessments to ensure optimal service delivery.

3. Conduct Health Research and Surveys:

Undertake research and gather data on social determinants of health and identify strategies to enhance mental health and wellbeing in relevant populations.

4. Teamwork:

Work synergistically with relevant teams, such as client services and marketing, to enhance Medlink’s brand as a leading wellness provider. This includes taking on the role of being Medlinks Wellness Ambassador.

5. Promote Mental Health Literacy:

Advocate for mental health awareness by providing training, counselling support, and guidance to client wellness teams and beneficiaries.

6. Monitor and Evaluate Wellness Programs:

Develop and implement tools and procedures to measure the effectiveness and impact of wellness initiatives.

7. Innovation and Flexibility:

Be able to see systemic gaps and unmet needs in the wellness landscape and quickly develop cost effective, but high-impact, strategies to respond to them.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in health education, psychology, counselling, social work, or a related field (required)
  • Master’s or a relevant postgraduate diploma (preferred)
  • Demonstrable competence in solving current problems (required)
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in wellness program design and implementation
  • Member of relevant professional body (required)
  • G12 Certificate (required)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of a broad range of whole person health topics and a commitment to wellness and the promotion of life learning
  • Keep professionally current in relevant research
  • Ability to establish relationships with administrators and employees to promote participation in sponsored programs, and to motivate them to set and reach health goals
  • Ability to display professionalism when dealing with employees and service providers
  • Ability to conduct benchmarking analysis, and environment and culture assessments to assist in programme development
  • Ability to create an environment that provides positive and collaborative relationships
  • Ability to maintain confidential documents and information and keep abreast of legal requirements
  • Ability to integrate wellness/fitness program initiatives into culture and organizational mission
  • Demonstrate skills in program building, critical thinking, verbal and written communication, computer and web-based programs.
