Job Description
Purpose
To optimise plant operational stability using condition monitoring technologies, risk analysis and reliability data analytics for optimum equipment availability, maintainability and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety and Environment Management
- Promote and encourage compliance with the Safety, Health and Environmental policies, standards, procedures, and regulations
- Raise/follow up closure of hazards and perform sectional safety inspections.
- Identify and respond to risks by developing and implementing Environmental, Health and Safety procedures to implement a zero-incident culture
Assessment Of The Performance Of The Process Plant
- Daily tracking and follow up of equipment downtime in collaboration with process/operations to ensure input of quality data in the downtime tracking application (AMPLA).
- Daily/weekly reporting of maintenance KPIs and related bad actors affecting performance.
- Track critical equipment wear-rates and optimise related data analysis to predict life for change-outs.
- Track RCFA/defect elimination actions and follow up on improvement actions/projects to reduce down-time and repetitive failures
Business Analysis And Improvement
- Perform supplementary inspections on critical equipment during shutdowns to consolidate findings and analysis by Condition Monitoring team.
- Perform follow up reliability inspections on CM defects to reduce the risk and severity of failure.
- Trigger the RCA process from chronic repetitive failures and down-time failure analysis as per RCA triggers guide-line.
- Provide input into the review/update of PM tasks and activities as part of ongoing continuous improvement through Reliability data analysis such as Down-time analysis, FMEA and FMECA by ensuring that all PMs and activities have a clear purpose in assessing machine conditions, defect identification and prevention of failures.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical or Related Engineering field
- Proficiency in data analysis using appropriate Microsoft packages.
- A member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
- Minimum 3 years’ work experience in a similar position with hands on maintenance condition monitoring experience.
- Exposed to Maintenance Management Systems such as PRONTO, SAP, Maximo MI7
- Understanding of Downtime analysis tools.
- Knowledge of failure analysis and risk based maintenance inspections

- Knowledge of and application of Condition Monitoring tools or techniques
- Certification in one or more CM technologies (VCAT-I, Alignment, Thermography etc) is added advantage.
- Able to work long hours including field work
- Conversant with maintenance management systems and standards’ practices
