System Administrator skills and qualifications

A successful System Administrator candidate will have various skills and qualifications to perform the required duties.

Requirements

• 3 years proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role
• Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
• Knowledge of system security (e.g., intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
• Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
• Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
• Excellent communication skills

Qualifications

• Completed High School at Grade 12
• Minimum Diploma in Computer Science or Related Field (Degree would be an added advantage).
• Proficiency in English
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully with a diverse group of users
• Customer-oriented and cool-tempered
• Ability to learn new content areas and new skills quickly
• Professional attitude and work habits.

Job Description

• Install and configure software and hardware
• Manage network servers and technology tools
• Set up accounts and workstations
• Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
• Troubleshoot issues and outages
• Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
• Upgrade systems with new releases and models • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
• Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies
• Make sure all PC CPUs, Monitors and TVs are switched on and in working order.
• Clean all Computer CPUs , Monitors and TV screens
