We are currently seeking specialized technical personnel to fill the below vacant positions within our Service Department. The person’s will be expected maintain and repair equipment on site that will deliver maximum equipment availability and other agreed KPIs while ensuring the highest safety level is maintained at all times.  The overall intention is to deliver the maximum value to the customer in terms of supporting them achieve their production targets at minimum cost while delivering sustainable healthy business for Epiroc Zambia.

Job Description: Automation Engineer

The job of an automation engineer involves implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting and testing automated processes on Epiroc Equipment and projects. Followed by creating detailed documentation for the fully functional projects. Other responsibilities includes:

  • Troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of RCS Systems on both Underground, Surface and Blast hole equipment
  • Implementing digital improvement projects through Certiq and Mobiliaris
  • Keeping up to date with latest developments in Automation technology and using these studies in improving productivity and promoting cost effectiveness.
  • Keeping track of engineering changes and updating necessary documents

Education/Experience Requirements

  • A successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / Electrical automation or electrical engineering and/or equivalent.
  • Must have minimum 3+ years’ experience in mining industry specifically in field service.
  • Experience on Epiroc Equipment with skills in RCS systems will be an added advantage.

Key knowledge, attributes, skills and abilities

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Solid understanding of a software development and computer programming,
  • Highly organized and creative, possess engineering leadership, strong research skills.
  • Excellent written and communication skills and proficiency in hardware and software development and troubleshooting

Job Description – Mechanical / Heavy Equipment Repair Technicians

  • To carry out daily checks on equipment as per checklist, prevent and repair defects.
  • To report all major defects to either the Shift Supervisor, Site Administrator, or finally to Contract Manager.
  • To fault find and repair equipment under contract to Epiroc Standards.
  • To maintain equipment on contract as per Epiroc maintenance manual.
  • To ensure that all relevant documentation (work order, Operator/ Mechanical/ productivity checklists) is complete as per requirement.
  • To ensure that all tools, workshop facility and equipment are used correctly and kept in good working condition.
  • Ensure good housekeeping at workplace.
  • To report on incident/accidents damages caused by the client.
  • Work shift rosters as required.
  • To perform other related work as assigned.

Requirements (Education and experience)

  • Craft certificate or Advanced Certificate in Heavy Equipment Repair / or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience on surface drill rigs or underground equipment.
  • Must be a member of Engineering Institute of Zambia (E.I.Z).

Job Description – Auto Electrician / High Voltage Electrician

  • To attend to all electrical related issues on surface rigs.
  • To plan for spares requirement pertaining to electrical circuits.
  • To receive general supervision through inspection of work for compliance with directions, plans and/or specifications.
  • To report all major defects to either the Shift Supervisor, Site Administrator, or finally to Service Manager.
  • To fault find and repair equipment under contract to Epiroc Standards.
  • To maintain equipment on contract as per Epiroc maintenance manual
  • To ensure that all relevant documentation (work order, Operator/ Mechanical/ productivity checklists) is complete as per requirement
  • To ensure that all tools, workshop facility and equipment are used correctly and kept in good working condition
  • Ensure good housekeeping at work place.
  • To report on incident/accidents damage caused by the client
  • Work shift rosters as required.
  • To perform other related work as assigned.

Requirements (Education and experience)

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience on surface and underground mining equipment such as drill rigs, loaders, dump trucks etc.
  • Must be a member of Engineering Institute of Zambia (E.I.Z)

Job Description: SHEQ Officer

  • Implementation and maintenance of the SHEQ management system in accordance with the Epiroc SHEQ requirements.
  • To be responsible for the safety and health of all the employees and contractors as well as for the environment in your area of responsibility.
  • To acquaint yourself with all the applicable regulations to your section.
  • To take all reasonable measures to enforce the requirements of the relevant regulations in your area of responsibility.
  • To ensure that the relevant SHEQ System files and registers are maintained and to evaluate and assess operating / working methods and techniques and make sure they are available for inspection at all times.
  • To investigate, to take prompt remedial action, to prevent re-occurrences and to report all injuries, damage, environmental incidents and near misses as soon as possible to the Service Manager and SHEQ Manager and Workshop Supervisor.
  • carry out the identification and evaluation of aspects, impacts and risks and recommend controls
  • To comply with and enforce Epiroc policies and procedures and Epiroc Zambia SHEQ management systems to reduce risks and costs.
  • To ensure that all new employees and contractors are inducted prior to them starting work.
  • To conduct planned inspections of the area of responsibility on a regular basis and to immediately action any deviation found.
  • To conduct SHEQ talks and involve all employees and contractors at the start of every shift.
  • To conduct monthly SHEQ Meetings.
  • To ensure that the information required for the compilation of Accident / Incident report is provided timeously to the SHEQ Manager.

Requirements (Education and experience)

  • Diploma or Certificates in SHEQ Management Systems;
  • Minimum two years experience in a similar position;

Key knowledge, attributes, skills and abilities

  • Ability to plan;
  • In depth knowledge of SHEQ management systems;
  • Knowledge of SHEQ management system auditing

Job Description: Foreman – Mechanical / Electrical

The mission of Foreman is to develop and maintain service contract by maximizing availability and MTBF, avoidance of long breakdowns and reduction in repetitive failures.

  • Develop a strong and competent service team on site.
  • Organization and planning of maintenance, preventive repair, maintenance work and emergency repairs.
  • To carry out regular machine Audits and inspections on site.
  • To fault find and repair equipment under contract to Epiroc Standards
  • To maintain equipment on contract as per Epiroc maintenance manual
  • To ensure that all relevant documentation (work order, Operator/ Mechanical/ productivity checklists) is completed and there is full compliance from Artisans as per requirement.
  • To ensure that all tools, workshop facility and equipment are used correctly and kept in good working condition.
  • Ensure good housekeeping in the workshop.
  • Monitoring compliance with schedules and deadlines, planning the placement of staff in accordance with the schedules, the timely preparation of fault reports, requests for spare parts and consumables for maintenance.
  • Manage all service resources as required to achieve targeted goals and objectives
  • Assess and ensure the high quality of the service mechanics are in place.
  • Responsible for the professional growth of employees and conducts an annual performance & development reviews, identify the necessary trainings needs for employees.
  • To perform other related work as assigned.

Requirements (Education and experience)

  • Advanced Technical Certificate / H.E.R / Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent through experience.
  • HER Technician with 5 years relevant experience.

Key knowledge, attributes, skills and abilities

  • Strong Electrical and Mechanical knowledge of equipment will be an added advantage.
  • Ability in managing Artisans is essential
  • Good planning, supervisory and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and show a strong sense of urgency.
