About the job

Our client, an international investment and development bank is looking to hire a Senior Portfolio Coordinator Water and Energy Infrastructure to join their team. The Senior Portfolio Coordinator will support and work in close coordination with the Portfolio Managers and the entire project team to ensure further development and effective implementation of the Water, Sanitation and Energy portfolio. The Coordinator will also act as the key focal point for the upcoming joint energy and water nexus program co-financed together with cooperating partners.

Responsibilities

  • Closely interact and support our project partners in water and energy utilities sectors, the respective ministries and other stakeholders in the further development and implementation of the joint programs, with particular focus on the upcoming joint energy and water nexus program
  • Ensure smooth cooperation, coordination and communication with the Zambian Government, utilities, donors and all other relevant stakeholders.
  • Be key focal point and assume full responsibility with regard to the implementation, monitoring, supervision, reporting and quality assurance of the activities and deliverables under energy and water nexus program in line with donor requirements
  • Take over full responsibility of logistics and content preparation especially EUD project monitoring missions and accompany these
  • Guide and manage public relation activities to increase visibility and communication
  • Prepare or contribute to project reports (internal as well as regular status reports to the German Government and especially the European Union), publications, presentations, public relations material (press releases, social media posts), websites etc. Oversee data collection and management
  • Collect and analyze economic, financial, legal and market information related to sector issues concerning water and energy
  • Support the Portfolio Manager for Energy, in project preparation, implementation, monitoring and routine tasks
  • Review documents and reports submitted by Government cooperating partners, the private sector and the civil society
  • Independently monitor and analyse project budgets, time schedules, disbursement requests, project indicator, output/outcomes and other project elements
  • Follow up of documents submitted to Government, cooperating partners, private sector, and civil society
  • Review project documents, especially related to the energy and water nexus program
  • Follow up on project documents, especially related to the nexus energy and water program
  • Research and write strategy papers and sector updates, as required by EU Delegation
  • Attend sector related events/ conferences and cooperating partners meetings as representative of our client and reporting on these events and meetings to the sector team or the Office Director
  • Participate in other tasks and duties reasonably requested by the Office Director

Requirements

  • Must have a Masters level qualification in relevant discipline (e.g. relevant engineering, economics, public administration, international development)
  • At least 8 years of relevant infrastructure project management working experience, preferably gained with an international organization or company
  • Proven track record in project or fund management, large scale procurement processes and reporting
  • Experience in drafting TORs for feasibility or sector studies, written summaries and analysis of sector papers, etc., as part of the project management cycle
  • Willingness and ability to acquire a full understanding of the procedures and financing instruments of our client and have the ability to translate that understanding into concrete and measurable progress on project implementation within the existing project portfolio. Training will be provided by our client
  • Knowledge of or experience with preparation and implementation of EU (co-) funded projects will be considered an advantage
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English. Knowledge of German would be of advantage
  • Willingness to travel regularly within Zambia and to Headquarters in Europe
  • Proven competence in the use of standard software (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point)
