WE ARE HIRING — TELESCOPIC BOOM OPERATOR (Zambia)
SMEI Projects is recruiting an experienced Telescopic Boom Operator for structural construction works in Zambia.
Requirements:
✔ Valid recognised heavy-duty or mobile crane operator licence/permit, accredited by an institution regulated by the Zambia Qualification Authority (mandatory)
✔ Grade 12 education certificate
✔ Valid Certificate of Fitness to Operate Lifting Equipment
✔ 3+ years verified boom-operator experience, preferably on complex structural construction sites
✔ Basic literacy and numeracy to follow operating manuals, safety signage and work instructions
✔ Must meet project-specific requirements (Dover Test)
Responsibilities: Operate telescopic handlers to lift, move and place materials on site; conduct pre-start and post-start daily checks on fluids, tyre pressure, cables and hydraulic systems; evaluate ground and soil stability, overhead obstructions and changing weather conditions before setting up outriggers and stabilisers; understand daily hazards and control measures and maintain total safety compliance; and operate the crane only when confident of being physically fit to do so.
💰 ZMW 19.05 – ZMW 47.62 per hour
