The National Science and Technology Council is a Statutory Body established by an Act of Parliament, under the Science and Technology Act No. 26 of 1997. Its mandate is to promoted science and technology in order to create wealth and improve the quality of life in Zambia. A vacancy has arisen in the Council. The Council, therefore, is inviting suitably qualified nationals to apply for the job of Programme Officer: Documentation and Information Technology (DIT) in its establishment.

Purpose of Job:

To implement a programme for Information Communication Technology (ICT) and manage documentation and publications

Principal Accountabilities (Main Duties):
  1. Create and maintain an updated database of funded projects, R&D activities, and funding agencies
  2. Timely publication of Brochures, newsletters, flyers, Reports (Workshop Proceedings, Special Studies). Collection of Annual Reports, Journals, Sectoral Policies and handling subscription to international journals
  3. Install Software on Computers and Servers. Provide assistance and resolves problems with regard to hardware and software. Preventive maintenance to computers
  4. Provide technical assistance in LAN and WAN. Preventive maintenance to LAN and WAN
  5. Provide guidance on security, design, and acquisition of computer and network systems
  6. Produces documentaries of NSTC events
Minimum Qualifications:
Required Qualification and Experience:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, Telecommunications, and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Mathematics or Physics
  • 3 years experience in Information Management or related field
  • Computer: Database Management
  • Written and Oral communication
  • Survey methodologies
  • A high level of integrity
  • Initiative and confidence
  • Good public relations
