Job Description

Sheladia Associates, Inc. is soliciting interest from a professional Principal Road Design Engineer to join an upcoming U.S. Government funded project addressing key constraints around agriculture and agro-processing in Southern Africa. Part of this project includes a component around improving roads to decrease transportation costs along select agricultural corridors. The expected scope of work will include feasibility and detailed design. This activity seeks to improve the access, quality, and climate resilience of prioritized roads within prioritized agricultural corridors. This project aims to ensure road durability, connect more farmers to markets, and increase climate resilience in the road sector.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or other relevant discipline.
  • Membership of Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)/Engineers Registration Board (EngRB) of Zambia or any similar internationally recognized professional institution.
  • 20 years’ post qualification experience.
  • 15 years’ experience in the design and/or construction of rural and/or interurban paved and unpaved roads and bridges in sub-Sahara Africa.
  • Responsibility for the preparation of designs, drawings and priced BOQs for at least three rural and/or inter-urban paved roads of a similar complexity to the project roads.
  • Experience in project management and leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Fluent in English.
