Mission/ Core purpose of the Job:

Managing Data Centre facilities SLAs and Carbon Emission for optimal and improved network performance in line with the prescribed SLAs.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures continuous availability of hosted server, storage infrastructure and services including disaster recovery facilities and offsite storage and test facilities;
  • Manages equipment deployment in all Data Centres;
  • Monitors and manages housekeeping on and under the False Floor of all Data Centres;
  • Monitors and records monthly load values in all Data Centres and Switching Centres;
  • Projects future power demand for the Data Centres basing on the monthly load increments;
  • Coordinates deployment of new equipment (putting into consideration the Cooling and Power Requirement);
  • Manages and coordinates the physical access control of the Data Centers and remote computer rooms in accordance with the agreed security practices;
  • Evaluates performance of MS in accordance with SLAs;
  • Manages and coordinates decommissioned hardware equipment;
  • Manages and coordinates the physical access control of the Data Centers and remote computer rooms in accordance with the agreed security practices;
  • Manages and coordinates the installation of and maintain Data Center cabling (Fibre, UTP, InfiniBand and other);
  • Conducts Data Center inspections, and conducts corrective steps to remediate equipment that is faulty for all equipment, including, but not limited to. ( * Power and cooling equipment, * Server hardware specially Power Supply Units, * Building monitoring systems* ánd Cabling);
  • Inspects and manages fire suppression equipment maintained by the Customer’s facilities management;
  • Advises and designs of Data Center facilities for both existing and new Data Centres;
  • Provides inventory records and ensures alignment of EOL disposal;
  • Sustainable Carbon Emission measurements and reporting;
  • Provides operational review reports weekly, monthly and quarterly;
  • Performs redundancy, DR and BCP testing.

Candidate Requirements:

  • B.Sc. Electrical/Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering;
  • Three (3) years’ experience in core network with a mobile telecom operator or consultancy;
  • Grade 12 Certificate. (5 O’ Level credits, including compulsorily English Language and Mathematics);
  • Thorough knowledge of general administration policies, including approval ceilings and jurisdiction;
  • Importance of customer service orientation;
  • Knowledge on AC and DC installations as well as on air conditioners, generators and electrical design Analyzing site components and consequently site performance;
  • Experience in integrating 2G and 3G networks.
