Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions in the School of Mines at the University of Zambia:
1. JOB TITLE: LECTURER/ SENIOR LECTURER/ ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/ PROFESSOR IN MINERALOGY – 1 POSITION
Responsibilities
- To teach and supervise students;
- To conduct and deliver innovative internationally competitive research;
- To carry out other academic related tasks.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent;
- Bachelor of Mineral Science (Geology);
- Master of Mineral Science/ Master of Science (Mineralogy;
- PhD in related field of study of Mineralogy/ Petrology will be an added advantage;
- Possess a good track record of research in metallic and non-metalliferous mineral deposits;
- Capable of developing new academic programs for the department; attracting research funds and traceable links of international networking and collaborations;
- Ability to conduct supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students;
- Posses excellent communication, computer and presentation skills; and
- Posses at least three (3) years relevant work experience in a related field of study and research.
2. JOB TITLE: LECTURER/ SENIOR LECTURER/ ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/ PROFESSOR IN STRUCTURAL GEOLOGY – 1 POSITION
Responsibilities
- To teaching and supervise students;
- To conduct and deliver internationally competitive research;
- To carry out other academic related tasks.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent;
- Bachelor of Mineral Science (Geology);
- Master of Mineral Science/ Master of Science (Structural Geology);
- PhD in related field of study in Structural Geology will be an added advantage;
- Possess a good track record of research in Igneous and/or metamorphic petrology;
- Capable of developing new academic programs for the Department; attracting research funds, and traceable links of international networking and collaborations;
- Ability to conduct field supervision of both undergraduate and postgraduate students;
- Posses excellent communication, computer and presentation skills; and
- Posses at least three (3) years relevant work experience in a related field of study and research.
3. JOB TITLE: LECTURER / SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/PROFESSOR IN GEOPHYSICS – 1 POSITION
Responsibilities
- To teach and supervise students;
- To conduct and deliver internationally competitive research;
- To carry out other academic related tasks.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent;
- Bachelor of Mineral Science (Geology / Geophysics);
- Master of Mineral Science/ Master of Science in Geophysics/Applied Geophysics;
- PhD in related applied Geophysics will be an added advantage;
- A track record of research in appropriate areas of both Geophysics and Applied Geophysics;
- Capable of developing new academic programs for the department, attracting research funds and traceable links of international networking and collaborations;
- Ability to assume responsibility for lecturing and field supervision in geophysics to undergraduate and post graduate students;
- Posses excellent communication, computer and presentation skills;
- Posses at least three (3) years relevant work experience in a related field of study and research;
- Additionally, skills in application of geophysical methods in hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, Mineral exploration and Structural Geology will be an added advantage.
4. JOB TITLE: LECTURER / SENIOR LECTURER/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/PROFESSOR IN ENGINEERING GEOLOGY – 1 POSITION
Responsibilities
- To teach and supervise students;
- To conduct and deliver internationally competitive research;
- To carry out other academic related tasks.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent;
- Bachelor of Mineral Science (Geology);
- Master of Mineral Science/ Master of Science in Engineering Geology or Geotechnics or Geotechnical Engineering;
- PhD in related Engineering Geology will be an added advantage;
- track record of research in appropriate areas of both Geophysics and Applied Geophysics;
- Capable of developing new academic programs for the Department, attracting research funds and traceable links of international networking and collaborations;
- Ability to assume responsibility for lecturing and field supervision of undergraduate and post graduate student in geophysics.
- Posses excellent communication, computer and presentation skills;
- Posses at least three (3) years relevant work experience in a related field of study and research;
- Additionally, skills in application of geophysical methods in hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, Mineral exploration and Structural Geology will be an added advantage.
