The Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) is a Statutory Institution owned by the two Governments of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Zambia on a 50/50 shareholding basis, with its registered head Office being in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Authority has two Regional Administrative Centres, one in Mpika, Zambia and the other in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Job Title: Senior Technician Civil
Salary Scale: TSG 10
Reporting to: Senior Civil Engineer (Z)
Location: Kasama
JOB PURPOSE
The Senior Technician Civil will be responsible to supervise construction projects at sites including dams, roads, buildings etc, giving technical advice and ensuring that work is done within the required specifications and agreed time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares bills of quantities and sometimes diagrams and submits same to superior for approval and agreement with consultants of the project.
- Prepares work schedules to show the activities to be done, number of people and other resources required and duration of the project.
- Mobilizes all the necessary resources, ensuring that they are sufficient to last up to the completion of the project.

- Discusses and resolves issues affecting the smooth progress of the project with consultants and workers so that the quality and progress of work are maintained.
- Prepares project progress reports on actual work being done, materials used or required, problems that may cause delays etc and submits same to superior.
- Carries out any other duties directly related to the construction and maintenance of buildings, water supply systems etc.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Diploma in Civil Engineering, Building / Construction/ or its infrastructure equivalent from a reputable College or University
- Five (5) years relevant work experience in infrastructure industry
- Not less than 30 years of age
- Post graduate works at Technologist level, will be an added advantage;
- Registered Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
Job Title: Human Resources Officer
Salary Scale: TSG 10
Reporting to: Senior Human Resources Officer
Location: Mpika
JOB PURPOSE
The Human Resources Officer coordinates administrative functions, participates in recruitments and separations, pensions and benefits, staff welfare and all matters relating to human resources
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyses statistics on the labour movement in order to identify trends, problem areas and compiles reports for decision makers;
- Scrutinizes requests for acting, promotions, transfers, recruitment and separations to ensure policy and procedures are adhered to;
- Reviews and follows up staff development plans;
- Prepares separation benefits;
- Resolves matters pertaining to disciplinary cases;
- Interprets and ensures compliance with the Labour Laws; and Prepares monthly reports highlighting employment statistics
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade Twelve (12) Certificate
- Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management/Public Administration or any Social Science
- Member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resources Management
- Three (3) years’ experience at officer level
- Not more than 45 years old
Job Title: Senior Safety Officer
Salary Scale: TSG 12
Reporting to: Regional General Manager
Location: Mpika
JOB PURPOSE
The Senior safety officer is responsible for implementation and insurance of compliance of safety requirement and other statutory safety obligations, Conduct educational campaign, seminars and competitions to stimulate safety awareness and to offer expert advice to management on all safety related issues namely occupational health and safety, fire safety and general safety regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop accident prevention programs and implementation
- Inspect all workplaces equipment machinery and installations and ensure that they conform to minimum safety standards.
- Spearhead formation and organization of work[place safety committees
- Monitor all railway operations and ensure total compliance to train working regulations
- Prepare safety performance reports
- Investigate and document all accidents and bad incidents that occur
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade Twelve (12) Certificate
- BSC. Engineering or Degree in Transport and Logistics or its equivalent
- Certificate in Safety or its equivalent
- Member of the Zambia Occupational Health and Safety Association (ZOHSA)
- Six (6) years’ experience, Two (2) years in Railway Industry
- Not more than 45 years old
