Job Title: Presenter

A  presenter is the face of a programme. The aim of the role is to entertain and inform an audience by presenting information or entertainment in an accessible and attractive way.

Responsibilities

  • Research topics and background information for items to be featured on the programme
  • Plan and rehearse shows
  • Write and sometimes memorise scripts
  • Liaise with other members of the production and technical teams
  • Introduce and host programmes
  • Interview guests in the studio, by telephone or on location
  • Read short news, traffic, sport or weather reports
  • Provide links between programmes
  • Read from a script or autocue, or improvise
  • Keep the programme running to schedule, responding positively and quickly to problems or changes and improvising where necessary
  • Meet with the production crew to assess or review a broadcast, and to plan the next one.

Requirements;

  • Demonstrated skills/experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good research and interviewing skills.
  • A confident and personable demeanor

Job Title: Driver

The driver will be responsible for running errands and ensuring that staff, and equipment are transported in a timely and safe manner.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Valid and clean driver’s license.
  • Sound knowledge of road safety regulations.
  • Working knowledge of local roads and routes.
  • The ability to utilize maps, GPS systems, and car manuals.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Punctual and reliable.
Job Title: Editor

Responsibilities

  • Receiving a brief, and maybe an outline of footage and/or a shot list, script, or screenplay
  • Assembling all raw footage, with camera shots either recorded or transferred onto video tape in preparation for inputting into the computer
  • Inputting uncut rushes and sound, and synchronising and storing them into files on the computer
  • Digitally cutting files to put together the sequence of the film and deciding what’s usable
  • Creating a ‘rough cut’ (or assembly edit) of the programme/film and determining the exact cutting for the next and final stages
  • Reordering and fine-tuning the content to ensure the logical sequencing and smooth running of the TV show or documentary.
  • Cutting and putting together raw video footage in readiness for the final cut.
  • Ensuring that their edits match that of the director’s or producer’s or reporter’s vision of the final product.
  • Final edit of each news insert, TV show and Documentary.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience.
  • Computer literacy
  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • Degree or diploma in a related field will be an advantage.
Job Title: Technical Director

The Technical Director is responsible for style and format consistency across all projects and communicating with other team members to create the best on air content possible. Technical Directors interpret script, conduct rehearsals, and direct activities of cast and technical crew for the productions. They also plan details such as framing, composition, camera movement, sound, and presenter movement for each shot or scene.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all crew in a calm controlled manner during pre-record and live studio productions.
  • Work with Producers to define their content needs.
  • Adhere to all sponsorship requirements of productions.
  • Make Production aware of technical limitations when receiving briefs.
  • Be prepared to travel for shoots should it be required.
  • Communicate clearly with other team members to achieve brief requirements.
  • Train junior staff and team members.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 7 years’ experience in a relevant field.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • Degree or diploma in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
Job Title: Vision Mixer

Vision Mixers work closely with the Director to deliver the visual experience as broadcast. The Vision Mixer must be a responsible, more senior member of the crew as they need to be able to call the shots during a production should the Director have to suddenly deal with other issues whilst on air.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to take direction well during live productions.
  • Be always presentable to handle guests.
  • Communicate clearly with other team members to achieve brief requirements.
  • Assemble, prepare, and set up equipment prior to filming.
  • Be able to use the Mixing Desk to its full capability to help enhance the production
  • Be able to follow scripts properly
  • Find solutions to technical or other practical problems
  • Be prepared to innovate and experiment with ideas, work quickly, especially as timing is such an important factor
  • Keep up to date with filming methods and equipment
  • Always maintain equipment
  • Demonstrate a good awareness of health and safety issues
  • Be prepared to travel for shoots should it be required.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 3 years’ experience in this field
  • Must have a good all-round general knowledge of a studio environment
  • Computer literacy
Job Title: Audio Operator

Audio Operators work closely with the Director to deliver the audio experience as broadcast. Reporting to the director, the Audio operator must be a responsible, more senior member of the crew. The Audio Operators will manage any assistants, boom swingers and gaffers that might be on the team.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to take direction well during live productions.
  • Be always presentable to handle guests.
  • Communicate clearly with other team members to achieve brief requirements.
  • Assemble, prepare, and set up equipment prior to filming.
  • Be able to use the Audio Desk to its full capability to help enhance the production
  • Be able to follow scripts properly
  • Find solutions to technical or other practical problems
  • Be prepared to innovate and experiment with ideas
  • Work quickly, especially as timing is such an important factor
  • Keep up to date with filming methods and equipment

Requirements;

  • Must have at least 3 years’ experience in a related role.
  • Ability to work as a team and  take direction well.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Must be able to multitask and handle multiple projects.
  • Good decision making and prioritizing skills.

Job Title: Camera Operator

The television camera operator will work with digital, electronic and film cameras and produce required shots by combining the use of complex technology with creative visual skills.

Responsibilities

  • Interpreting the script artistically and technically. Basically responsible for the image.
  • Lighting and camera work of a production; supervise camera and lighting team in a specific production.
  • Must have a professional understanding of what good camera and lighting looks like for a specific production
  • Work hand in hand with the director on set to best bring out the visuals of a script for a specific production through lighting, framing and camera movement.
  • Must understand what kit will be needed to produce a script visually.
  • Must be the earliest on a set to set up for production.
  • Works hand in hand with the director to best execute the director’s shot list for the day
  • Must make sure every shot is usable.
  • Must review raw footage with the director during post production together with the editor especially during the grading phase for TV shows and documentaries.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience in this field.
  • Must have a good all-round general knowledge of shooting on location
  • Computer literacy
  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • Degree or diploma in a related field will be an advantage.
  • Stylist & Makeup
  • Responsible for enhancing and maintaining a high standard of appearance among cast members through makeup and wardrobe.
Responsibilities
  • Stay up to date with the latest best practices, tools, and technology in the makeup and fashion industry.
  • Adhere to personal hygiene standards.
  • Determine the necessary supplies and equipment needed.
  • Assist in applying and removing makeup and prosthetics.
  • Understand requirements from a visual and technical standpoint.
  • Advising clients on fashion styling for visuals.
  • Selecting the most appropriate pieces from collections and ranges for the shoot.
  • Purchasing props for shoots.
Requirements
  • 3 years experience in a similar role.
  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • A certificate or diploma in a related field will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent knowledge of makeup products, techniques, and technologies
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Creative mindset and artistic personality
  • Technical understanding of lighting, photography, styles, and dramatization
