Contract Management Specialist (x1)

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Head Infrastructure Delivery, the job holder will work as a part of the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) responsible for contract management of contracts relating to the Zambian Water and Sanitation Project.  The role will be to support the administration and coordination of contracts including large scale design and build contracts along with smaller goods, works and services contracts.

Summary of Main Accountabilities

  • To support all administration aspects of the procurement process through to contract award and implementation and contract completion (including the liability period, where required).
  • Work closely with the technical team and other supporting functions to ensure contract processes, standards and procedures are being followed
  • To assist the technical team ensuring technical and contractual issues are robustly considered and implemented using correct procedures.
  • To support the Project Implementation Team in all aspects of the procurement and contract management processes including legal obligations, contractual and associated compliance, regulatory, financial, health safety and environment and quality standards.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Grade 12 School Certificate
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Water Engineering /Project Planning and Management with specialization in Contract Management
  • 5 years relevant experience in design, water utility operations, project implementation supervision preferably in water and sanitation projects
  • Valid EIZ membership and practising license

Required Competencies

  • Experience in the procurement and contracting process for large scale infrastructure contracts in Zambia
  • Experience in the use of FIDIC forms of contract (red, white and yellow books)
  • A good understanding of the water and utilities sector and new developments
  • Experience of contractual delivery, in a variety of types of contracting mechanisms, practices, and procedures
  • Experience in working on a construction site

Instrumentation Technician (x1)

Job Purpose

  • To install, service and repair control instrumentation equipment, metering devices and associated components, required to support equipment and machinery for water and sewerage operations

Summary of Main Accountabilities

  • Responsible for checking and maintaining water and/or sewer system instrumentation:
  • Carrying out preventive and remedial maintenance on water and/or sewer system instrumentation equipment in pumping houses and control rooms:
  • Carrying out routine preventive maintenance on all the PLCs and SCANDA systems in all water treatment plants/ Sewage plants in pumping houses and control rooms:
  • Completes work dockets and other reports detailing work done and other details as required
  • Ability to drive company vehicles
  • Undertakes any related assignment given by supervisor

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with 5 O Levels
  • Craft Certificate in Instrumentation
  • Graduate Diploma in Electrical & Electronics will be an added advantage
  • 3 years post qualification experience
  • Valid EIZ membership and practicing license

Required Competencies

  • Technical hands on instrumentation equipment repairs/installations
  • Ability to interpret instrumentation drawings/diagrams
  • Knowledge of power electrical
  • Ability to drive motor vehicle with valid Driver’s license

Commercial Service Assistant / Meter Reader (x4)

Job Purpose

  • To carry-out customer services functions in the assigned area of operation involving taking meter readings accurately in readiness for correct billing to facilitate generation of correct bills for distribution to metered customers for payment for services rendered

Summary of Main Accountabilities

  • Reads and records water consumption meters.
  • Verifying readings in instances where consumption appears abnormal
  • Distributes disconnection notices to customers
  • Responds to simple customer queries in the field and records queries that are more complex for submission to the supervisor
  • Records unmetered properties in designated area and opens new meter cards for new metered properties to update the billing database.
  • Carries out water disconnections and reconnections as and when required
  • Undertakes random checks on disconnected properties
  • Inspects meters for unauthorized connections, defects and damages and reports to the supervisor
  • Update clients’ address, contact numbers and meter location coordinates

Office Assistant/ Cleaner (x2)

Job Purpose

  • To clean and secure offices and collect and distribute/deliver mail from Post Office/Registry to designated offices and other institutions

Summary of Main Accountabilities

  • Cleans offices, kitchen, toilets, verandas, corridors and office surroundings every day by sweeping, mopping, dusting etc
  • Collects and delivers mail, newspapers and circulates files, memoranda, within the office to facilitate Company operations
  • Posts, collects mail from the post office and delivers mail as required
  • Maintains incoming and outgoing mail registers
  • Undertakes timely photocopying, duplicating, binding and shredding of documents to facilitate smooth operations of the Company
  • Secures and ensures confidentiality of Company information
  • Attends to customers and customer queries as and when assigned and does this promptly and courteously.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Grade 12 School Certificate
  • At least 1 year experience
