1. Position: Director – Distance Education (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for providing leadership in the operations of distance education in line with university policies.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Initiates and participates in the formulation and review of policies, work manuals and procedures in the directorate.
  • Oversees the registration of students and maintenance of students’ records.
  • Supervises subordinate staff and ensures that performance appraisal is conducted.
  • Ensures that the Directorate’s budget is prepared.
  • Spearheads resource mobilization for the unit.
  • Monitors the performance of the budget.
  • Oversees enrollment of new students.
  • Superintends over the marketing of programmes.
  • Oversees the planning and running of Distance Education Examinations in all centres.
  • Oversees the processing of distance examination results.
  • Ensures budgeted expenditure items and services are procured on time in liaison with the procurement department.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education.
  • Master’s Degree in Education.
  • PhD in Education.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of work experience as an academic practitioner of which 5 years must be at Senior Lecturer level or above.

2. Position: Dean Of School (7 Positions)

Purpose: Responsible for exercising general superintendence over the academic, administrative and financial affairs of a school.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Ensures that school and departmental work plans are produced.
  • Initiates the formulation and review of policies and work manuals.
  • Ensures the implementation of policies and work plans in line with the University strategic plan.
  • Monitors implementations of policies and work plans.
  • Supervises teaching activities in all departments.
  • Ensures the conduct of examinations as per university regulations;
  • Supervises regular review of curricula in the school.
  • Superintends over the development of all academic programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the School.
  • Ensures implementations of programmes.
  • Promotes postgraduate and undergraduate programmes.
  • Ensures that the consultancy unit is established in the School.
  • Ensures the development of the effective linkages with the International University Community.
  • Ensures that quarterly and annual reports are prepared.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent;
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of specialisation;
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field of specialisation;
  • PhD in a relevant field of specialisation;
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of working experience as an academic practitioner of which 5
    years must be at Senior Lecturer level or above;
  • Must have proof of valid membership to a professional organisation or association and
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
3. Position: Chief Internal Auditor (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for spearheading planning and administrative activities of all auditable university resources and systems, asset management, transparency.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Spearheads the strategic direction of the Internal Audit Unit, formulation and review of audit policies, charters and risk-based audit plan and manuals;
  • Ensures review of compliance with applicable policies, plans, procedures, laws and regulations relating to academic and administrative functions.
  • Reports periodically to the Audit and Risk Committee and to the Vice-Chancellor.
  • Reports regularly to council on the operations of financial, administrative and academic
    functions of the university.
  • Ensures inspection and verification of negotiable securities, receivables and payables including examination of receipts for cash payments and purchases.
  • Ensures audit inspection of recording of transactions in journals, ledgers and day books and verifies transfer of entries of ledgers for accuracy of data and their completeness.
  • Oversees the execution of due diligence reviews, fraud investigations and any other related tasks when required by Vice-Chancellor.
  • Oversees the preparation of annual budget proposals of the internal audit unit, including estimates of costs associated with the unit’s operations.
  • Ensures submission of internal audit budgets for approval by Audit and risk committee of Council.
  • Ensures the efficient and effective provision of audit assurance on Human resources in the University.
  • Provides advice to the Vice-Chancellor relating to strategy for the efficient operations of University businesses.
  • Evaluates execution of audit assignments in order to ensure adherence to time schedules and standard practices
  • Reviews periodically the internal quality assurance systems within internal audit for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate or its equivalent;
  • Full ZICA, ACCA or CIMA;
  • Master’s Degree in a related field;
  • Chartered Risk Management and Assurance (CRMA) or Chartered Internal Auditor (CIA) will be an added advantage;
  • Minimum of five (5) years post qualifying experience in Internal auditing;
  • Must be a registered member of the Institute of Internal Auditors in Zambia or IIA Global;

4. Position: Deputy Registrar (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for planning and organising academic, corporate and administrative functions of the University.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Participates in the formulation and development of University strategic plans and policies.
  • Coordinates University Council corporate affairs under the direction of the Registrar.
  • Communicates and enforces resolutions of council and its Committees
  • Maintains statutory registers and records
  • Oversees the maintenance of University infrastructure
  • Ensures general corporate compliance
  • Ensures safety and security of the University seal, property and assets
  • Assists in rationalising the allocation and use of University property
  • Ensures that official records of the University are maintained and updated regularly.
  • Oversees the provision of secretarial services to Senate and its Committees.
  • Ensures that resolutions of Senate and its Committees are communicated.
  • Superintends over student admissions, registration, and administration of examinations and general academic affairs of the University.
  • Spearheads the formulation of health and safety, policy and manuals.

5. Position: Manager – ICT (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for planning and providing leadership in the design, development, installation, management and maintenance of ICT in the University.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Initiates and participates in the formulation/review of policies, technology plans, work manuals, procedures and related documentation.
  • Ensures that approved policies on Information and Communication Technologies are properly interpreted and effectively communicated for implementation by the University Community.
  • Ensures compliance with local and international regulatory frameworks.
  • Oversees the installation and maintenance of network systems.
  • Designs, develops and executes programmes to improve the quality of the Information.
  • Ensures constant design and redesigning of key university technology solutions through innovation.
  • Gives expert guidance in the application of Information Technology and Communication resources to support research.
  • Ensures overall supervision of staff in order to facilitate efficient and effective operation of the department.
  • Ensures the generation of financial resources for smooth operations of the department through consultancies and training
  • Oversees marketing of consultancy services to the general public and ensures the provision of training to staff and students

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • Bachelor’s degree in an ICT related field:
  • Master’s Degree in an ICT related field;
  • Certification not limited to CCNA, CCNP or MCSE, Azure Certification, Certified Ethical Hacker/ITIL Certification/PRINCE 2 Agile;
  • Minimum of five (5) years post qualifying relevant work experience of which 3 years must be at middle management level;

6. Position: Manager – Marketing, International Link And Public Relation (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for planning and providing leadership in public relations, marketing and international linkages.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Provides consultative and official statements on any matters concerning the University.
  • Advises management on national public relations policy and media ethics.
  • Evaluates and interprets the different publics’ images of the University to management
  • Advises Management on the course of action to constantly build the University reputation.
  • Ensures promotion of University academic programmes and services.
  • Ensures that media contacts are well managed and maintained.
  • Ensures that press briefings, media tours and press releases are conducted.
  • Drafts Speeches for Principal Officers in the University.
  • Manages all branding functions in the university
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of effective linkages with the International University Community.
  • Provides guidance during exhibitions activities at different fairs
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual operational performance reports.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • Degree in Mass Communications, Marketing, Corporate Communication or Public Relations or in a related field;
  • A Master’s degree in a related will be an added advantage;
  • Minimum of five (5) years practical work experience in Public Relations or Marketing.
  • Must be a member to a professional organisation or association
7. Position: Legal Officer (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for providing legal services, advice and professional guidance to University Council and Management.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Advises Council and Management on the interpretation and application of the Higher Education Act and other statutes.
  • Provides legal services which involves conveyance, legal drafting, trust, contracts, agreements and litigation to ensure that they are effectively and efficiently executed.
  • Examines circumstances of civil disputes or charges alleging infringements of law.
  • Determines applicable law, from appropriate law codes, statutes, regulations and previous decisions to use when writing opinions, preparing pleas, defences and grounds of prosecutions.
  • Institutes title searching to establish legal/lawful ownership of property before the University can enter into contract for the leasing, acquisition or disposal of property.
  • Provides Council and Management with legal opinions on any matter of policy.
  • Drafts contracts and agreements for the procurement, disposal and exchange of equipment, machinery, services, building and property.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • LLB Degree
  • Advocate of the High Court and Supreme Court of Zambia
  • Must have a valid practicing license from the Law Association of Zambia.
  • Admission to the bar with not less than three (3) years relevant work experience.
8. Position: Deputy Dean Of Students (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for planning, organising and coordinating students’ affairs and Supervision of members of staff in the Students’ Affairs Unit.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Prepares policy guidelines, work manuals, students’ rules and regulations.
  • Implements students’ rules and regulations.
  • Supervises the allocation of hostel accommodation
  • Supervises counselling and advisory services.
  • Facilitates the formation of students associations.
  • Coordinates sports, socio-cultural, recreation and extracurricular activities for students.
  • Enforces discipline among Student Affairs’ staff.
  • Supervises the maintenance of property in the Unit.
  • Prepares the Student Affairs’ budget.
  • Facilitates the procurement of various office equipment for the Unit.
  • Prepares and reviews monthly, quarterly and annual departmental operational performance reports

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Guidance and Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or in Education;
  • Master’s degree in a related field;
  • Minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience of which two (2) years should be at management level;
  • Must have proof of membership to a professional organization or association;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
9. Position: Manager Procurement (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for planning, organizing and supervising the procurement functions for the University.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Prepares the annual procurement plan.
  • Directs the implementation of procurement in line policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the review of purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to Zambia
  • Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) and University policy.
  • Reviews approved purchase orders to ensure accuracy and compliance to regulations
  • Oversees the process of evaluating the suppliers in order to determine product availability and terms of sale
  • Negotiates conditions of sale, establish credit facilities and obtains assurance for the supply of materials through signed agreements
  • Prepares and submits situational, quarterly and annual reports on procurement and supply issues for information and management decision.
  • Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs.
  • Prepares and submits quarterly reports on procurement and supply issues to Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA).

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • Professional Diploma (CIPS) or Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Supply;
  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or in a related field will be an added advantage;
  • Minimum of five (5) years practical experience in a similar or related position;
  • Must be a member of Zambia Institute and Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS).
10. Position: Manager – Human Resource And Administration (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for planning, co-coordinating and implementing human resource and administrative functions of the University.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Spearheads the formulation and development of administrative and human resource policies
  • Communicates resolutions of the bargaining unit and the human Resource Committee.
  • Facilitates the recruitment and selection process through job advertisements and interviews
  • Ensures adherence and effective implementation of recruitment policies and guidelines.
  • Guides the recruitment and selection process by adhering to recruitment policies.
  • Facilitates the review of the University Organisational structure and maintains the University establishment.
  • Ensures that job descriptions and specifications are prepared and updated periodically
  • Prepares and maintains all staff contracts as approved by the appropriate Council Committees.
  • Ensures that the Staff Performance Management System and framework is developed.
  • Provides specialist advice and guidance on matters affecting employee welfare, discipline and labour.
  • Guides Management on the remuneration of staff through the interpretation of the remuneration policy.
  • Ensures implementation of health and safety policies and manuals
  • Coordinates all training and development programmes in the University
  • Prepares quarterly and annual operational performance reports.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Human Resource Management or related field;
  • Master’s Degree will be an added advantage;
  • Minimum of seven (7) years relevant post qualifying experience of which four (4) years must be at management level;
  • Must be a full member of Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management
11. Position: Management Accountant (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for managing financial transaction processes, cash flow management, budget preparation and the budgetary control process.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Prepares timely financial statements, financial reports and management accounts in order to facilitate decision making.
  • Ensures efficient and effective financial planning, analysis and forecasting.
  • Timely prepares budgets, budget performance reports and implements budgetary systems.
  • Ensures availability and control of cash in order to facilitate optimum utilisation of financial resources.
  • Implements effective internal controls in order to ensure compliance with the University’s financial guidelines.
  • Ensures efficient and effective processing of financial transactions
  • Ensures provision of draft responses to internal and external audit queries.
  • Supervises subordinates in order to facilitate efficient and effective operations of the department.
  • Participates in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual operational performance reports.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • ACCA or CIMA or ZICA;
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience of which 3 years must be at middle management level;
  • Must be a member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants
12. Position: Librarian (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for developing, organising and maintaining systematic collections of books, periodicals and other recorded materials for library users.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Participates in the formulation and review of policies and work manuals.
  • Responsible for deployment of staff, preparation of staff schedules, delegates assignments and supervises staff.
  • Develops library staff development programmes and determines appropriate areas of training.
  • Enforces discipline among subordinate staff in accordance with University code of conduct.
  • Supervises the selection and acquisition of library materials.
  • Formulates, implements and reviews the e-Library policy.
  • Selects, acquires and installs appropriate hardware and software for the library system.
  • Evaluates the systems for necessary upgrades in keeping with technological developments.
  • Participates in teaching academic courses in the area of specialization
  • Conducts and organises exhibitions to showcase library services and products.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • Bachelor of Arts in Library and Information Sciences or its equivalent;
  • Master of Library in Information Science or its equivalent;.
  • Minimum of six (6) years working experience in an academic library of which three (3) years should be at management level
  • Must be a member of the Library Information Association of Zambia (LIAZ)

13. Position: Manager – Academic Services (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for the administration of academic matters and providing secretarial services to Senate and its Committees.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Drafts the academic policies, regulations and participates in the review of policies.
  • Provides guidance to members of Senate on matters related to the operations of the University Senate.
  • Ensures authentication of University certificates and detailed transcript of results.
  • Oversees the preparation and issuance of University certificates.
  • Ensures preparation of the budget for graduation ceremonies.
  • Supervises issuance of academic dresses to academic staff.
  • Supervises registration of graduands.
  • Ensures the issuance of graduation booklets, speeches and other information to Senators on graduation day.
  • Monitors tenure of office for elected members of the University Senate.
  • Conduct selections for membership to the University Senate.
  • Participates and represents Academic Office on School Boards of Studies
  • Ensures the preparation of the University prospectus and brochures on academic programmes and admission criteria.
  • Ensures registration of students and attends to various registration queries.
  • Ensures preparation of examination timetables in liaison with Schools.
  • Publicises and disseminates academic policies and regulations to students and staff.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Sciences or in a related field;
  • Minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience;
  • Must have proof of membership to a professional organization or association;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

14. Position: Superintendent – Estates And Infrastructure (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for spearheading planning activities, construction and maintenance functions relating to rehabilitation of infrastructure, plant and equipment.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Spearheads the formulation and review of policies, work manuals and procedures
  • Facilitates the allocation of houses to the University members of staff;
  • Regularly inspects/surveys the condition of University infrastructure
  • Prepares detailed inventory of all university infrastructure both mobile and fixed assets.
  • Advises management on maintenance works that require out-sourcing
  • Prepares departmental budget and financial reports monthly, quarterly and annually.
  • Supervises and appraises subordinate staff in the department
  • Serves as a Project Managers/Client/Employer on all construction projects.
  • Provides technical specification for preparation of tender documents for all university projects.
  • Ensure effective preparation and verification of final account for civil engineering and
    building construction projects.
  • Advises Management on cost implication for proposed construction and maintenance projects.
  • Identifies project sites and interprets, analyses reports, maps, drawings and tests on soil composition
  • Directs the facilitation of the submission of drawing plans for planning permission and building permits to the local Authority.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering;
  • A master’s degree in a related field will be an added advantage;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience;
  • Must be a member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).

15. Position: Accountant (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for undertaking all aspects of Finance and Accounting functions of the university.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Participates in the preparation of financial statements, financial reports and management accounts in order to facilitate decision making.
  • Participates in the process of financial planning, financial trends and forecasting in order to facilitate decision making.
  • Participates in the preparation of budgets and budget performance reports through accurate analysis of financial data in order to enhance accountability.
  • Implements effectively internal controls in order to ensure compliance with the University’s financial guidelines.
  • Provides draft responses to internal and external audit queries in order to enhance transparency and accountability.
  • Supervises subordinates in order to facilitate efficient and effective operation of the department.
  • Participates in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual operational performance reports.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • ACCA or CIMA or ZICA
  • Minimum of four (4) years relevant work experience.
  • Member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants

16. Position: Human Resource Officer (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for planning, co-coordinating, providing administration and Human Resources Management Services to management.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Participates in the formulation and development of human resource policies.
  • Drafts correspondence on the resolutions of the bargaining unit and the human Resource Committee.
  • Prepares the recruitment plan, recruitment adverts and coordinates the recruitment process.
  • Drafts appointments, probationary and confirmation letters
  • Participates in the review of the University Organisational structure and maintenance of the University establishment
  • Participates in the preparation of staff contracts
  • Creates and maintains records of all employees in the University
  • Participates in the development of the Staff Performance Management System and framework.
  • Provides specialist advice and guidance on matters affecting employee welfare, discipline and labour.
  • Guides Management on the remuneration of staff through the interpretation of the Remuneration policy.
  • Facilitates the implementation of health and safety policies and manuals.
  • Participates in the coordination of training and development programmes in the University.
  • Prepares quarterly and annual operational performance reports.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration/Human Resources Management or a related field;

  • Must be a member of Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management.
17. Position: Chief Security Officer  (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for planning, managing and directing security strategies and protect University community.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Plans daily, weekly, monthly and annual security strategies
  • Briefing supervisors on new security developments and implementation processes.
  • Coordinates and supervises security administration and operations
  • Ensures that University property and assets are safeguarded
  • Develops and reviews comparative security strategies in line with crime trends in the University.
  • Investigates and prevents crime.
  • Liaises with other security agencies on matters relating to the University security and investigations.
  • Conducts security sensitisation for the University community.
  • Ensures that law and order is maintained in all university events.
  • Prepares sectional budget, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual operational performance reports.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any Social Sciences and Certificate in Defence and Security, Military, Correctional Services or Police;
  • A degree in Law, Criminal Justice and Defence and Security or Correctional Services will be an added advantage;
  • Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience
18. Position: Personal Assistant  (3 Positions)

Purpose: Responsible for providing secretarial and administrative services in School/Units.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Provides secretarial support and Screens incoming mail.
  • Screens, visitors and making appointments for the office.
  • Draft responses to routine requests including referral to other offices in the University.
  • Takes dictations and drafts routine memoranda, letters, reports, notices as required.
  • Manages the office diary and prepares the itinerary
  • Makes arrangements for appointments and meetings.
  • Maintains an accurate and up to date filing system for ease reference and retrieval.
  • Initiates procurement of goods and services in the school/unit.
  • Issues and monitors proper utilisation of consumables
  • Communicates effectively with clients that visit the office.
  • Supervises cleaners in the school/units

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • Diploma in Secretarial studies or Advanced Certificate in Secretarial with 65 WPM typing speed and a Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences or in a business related field;
  • Minimum of four (4) years of practical secretarial working experience in a similar position.
19. Position: Marketing Officer (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for the implementation of marketing functions of the University

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Promotes academic programmes and services using various media platforms.
  • Prepares and designs the University marketing strategy.
  • Designs various marketing tools.
  • Uploads and monitors contents of the website.
  • Organises and facilitates marketing and publicity of University events.
  • Conducts marketing research surveys for the University.
  • Analyses target groups, institutions and their various educational needs
  • Conducts and arranges media briefings in liaison with the Manager.
  • Liaises with various media houses that would assist in marketing
  • Participates in the preparation of quarterly and annual operational performance reports.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing;
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience;
  • Must be a member of Zambia Institute of Marketing
20. Position: Procurement Officer (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for day-to-day execution of procurement functions.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Participates in the preparation of departmental work plans.
  • Participates in the preparation of purchase orders for submission to prospective suppliers.
  • Participates in the process of evaluating bids/quotations from prospective suppliers.
  • Participates in the negotiation of conditions of sale/contracts.
  • Participates in the preparation and submission of situational, quarterly and annual reports to Management and Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA).
  • Participates in the preparation of documents in order to facilitate the bidding process.
  • Appraises the subordinate staff and ensures staff performance appraisals are conducted in the section
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual operational performance reports.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • ZIPS level VI or Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience.
  • Must be a member of Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS).

21. Position: Scientist (4 Positions)

Purpose: Responsible for providing technical and administrative support in the Teaching Department

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Participates in the formulation/review of policies and reviews laboratory work manuals.

Purpose: Responsible for the overall management, receipt and issuance of stock to end users.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Ensures that all in-coming deliveries are inspected against specifications of the purchase order.
  • Liaises with the Manager, Estates and infrastructure in coding furniture and equipment.

Purpose: Responsible for receiving, keeping and issuing stocks for the university

  • Stores goods in appropriate places according to the department.
  • Liaises with schools and units on the stock requirements.
  • Inspects stock and liaises with the supervisor on obsolete stock for disposal.

Purpose: Responsible for providing first line ICT support to staff and students in the university.

  • Participates in the formulation and review of policies, work manuals and procedures;
  • Diagnoses computer problems.
  • Monitors computer processing systems.
  • Schedules maintenance activities and teaches clients to use computer programs.
  • Repairs computers and initiates procurement of computer parts.
  • Carries out routine up to date backups for information safety.
  • Sets up workstations with computer equipment and other necessary peripheral devices.
  • Installs LAN/WAN and other networks.
  • Trains students and staff on minor operations on computer software and programmes.

33. Position: Plumber (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for executing plumbing repairs/maintenance works and installation of new plumbing fixtures in the University.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Installs plumbing systems and fixtures.
  • Repairs and maintains plumbing fixtures.
  • Rehabilitates existing plumbing fixtures.
  • Conducts hydraulic tests.
  • Unblocks and extracts all sewer blockages.
  • Digs and excavates trenches for laying of pipelines including cleaning and maintaining work place and tools.
  • Participates in the preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly annual operational performance reports.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate or its equivalent;
  • Minimum of a Craft Certificate in Plumbing;
  • Minimum of one (1) year relevant work experience.
34. Position: Electrician (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for carrying out routine medium voltage installations, repair, maintenance and operation (breakdown /emergency) activities.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Prepares switching schedule for purposes of isolation for maintenance, construction/installation, re-construction.
  • Conduct installation, wiring, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment.
  • Carry out weekly inspections of electrical fittings and fixtures.
  • Carry out of servicing of medium voltage installations.
  • Carry out electrical tasks according to given technical specifications.
  • Ensure that the Quebec safety system is followed in the care and maintenance of electrical installations of workshops.

35. Position: Carpenter (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for carrying out carpentry and construction works.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Prepares work site and all the relevant logistics required to undertake tasks.
  • Undertakes renovation, alteration, basic repairs and maintenance to existing structures.
  • Ensures that safety and hygiene standards are maintained at a worksite.

36. Position: Bricklayer (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for carrying out bricklaying and construction works.

37. Position: Stores Clerk (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for managing all records of stocks in the Central Stores.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Participates in the preparation of departmental plan.
  • Inspects all goods received to ensure that they are in accordance with specifications.
  • Records accurately all goods received and stock issued.

Purpose: Responsible for facilitating the process, maintenance and custody of primary records of financial transactions for receipts and payments

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Receives all relevant source documents for payment processing.
  • Verifies all relevant source documents for completeness, accuracy and validity for payment
  • Prepares payment vouchers and ensures proper vouching and coding of the transactions

Purpose: Responsible for managing all records of Purchasing documents in the Purchasing and Supplies Department.

Purpose: Responsible for various library technical duties including selection, acquisition, organisation, storage and circulation of information resources

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Participates in the preparation of the departmental work plan
  • Shelves all library materials regularly in designated areas and sorts materials for repair
  • Registers new library users and clears students at the end of every term.

42. Position: Driver (5 Positions)

Purpose: Responsible for driving University vehicles and running assigned errands in the University.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Completes and submits accident reports to the police and Transport Officer.
  • Undertakes routine vehicle check-ups and carries out minor repairs.
  • Cleans vehicles.
  • Collects and delivers goods and correspondences.
  • Transports members of staff as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

43. Position: Hostel Attendant (4 Positions)

Purpose: Responsible for planning and attending to the social welfare needs of students in the halls of residence

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Participates in the preparation of sectional work plan and daily activity reports.
  • Conducts physical checks to verify occupants of the hostels
  • Reports vacant bed spaces and defects to property and infrastructure.
  • Custodian of keys to the rooms.
  • Issues mattresses and curtains to students who have been allocated rooms.

44. Position: Office Assistant – (1 Position)

Purpose: Responsible for handling front office duties, cleaning utensils, collecting and dispatching various correspondences for the Unit.

  • Collects, sorts and dispatches various correspondences within and outside the University.
