Association For Life of Africa (AFLA) is a network of Pregnancy Crisis Centers and Life Affirming ministries in Africa. Its mission is to Reach and Rescue as many lives as possible in the continent of Africa, through an effective network of life-affirming pregnancy help, to Restore communities for LIFE. AFLA is Pro-Life Association registered as NGO with its headquarters in Kitwe Zambia. We provide training on how you can start and effectively run a Pregnancy Resource Center (PRC). Our goal as AFLA is to advance the Pregnancy Help and Life Affirming Movement in all African Countries and we do this by providing Affiliation to all independent and autonomous Life Affirming organizations in Africa.

POSITION 1. TRAININGS / AFFILIATE COORDINATOR

Qualifications:

1) University Degree.
2) Has a committed and growing relationship with the Lord.
3) Maintains personal devotional and prayer life.
4) Expresses full agreement and complies with AFLA’s Statement of Faith, Vision and Mission Statements, and Policies and Procedures of AFLA.
5) Maintains a consistent life-affirming philosophy and would never refer or advise a woman to have an abortion. (When a situation arises where a woman’s life is at risk, the center advocates taking measures to preserve her life, hoping that the woman and her child can both be saved.)
6) Committed to sexual purity outside of marriage and fidelity in a marriage relationship.
7) Shows initiative and exhibits both relational and administrative/leadership gifting’s.
8) Respects confidentiality.
9) Passes a criminal background check.

TRAINING / AFFILIATE COORDINATOR RESPONSBILITIES

1. Assist the Director with the planning and implementation of international programs/services, in particular global relationships. Assist with developing plans for meeting, goals and objectives and servicing international affiliates. This includes:
a) Research needs of international affiliates through communication with international pregnancy help organization and pro-life organizations, internet research, communication with staff, and other appropriate means to identify needs and determine options, services, products for filling those needs.
b) Oversee and coordinate programs and services for affiliated pregnancy help organizations.
c) Encourage affiliation and identify existing or emerging pregnancy help organizations within our country or continent-wide vision and influence for additional relational and organizational involvement.
2. Facilitate consultation/training to affiliates and potential affiliates to assist pregnancy help organizations in fulfilling the shared visions for pregnancy help services. Provide appropriate information and resources. Promote the Gospel, solicit and receive prayer requests, and pray with affiliates as appropriate to encourage and support their center’s ministry of life.
3. Keep current on information pertinent to support our mission, its programs and affiliates. Utilize this information when executing the other responsibilities of this position.
4. Assist with planning and execution of conferences and events coordinate/oversee logistics/activities related to involvement of internationals. Assist with logistics: site and date selection, arranging for speakers, travel arrangements, facility arrangements. Track registrants, ensure proper registrations, payments, communication, reporting, etc. Communicate with internationals to coordinate travel, accommodations, scholarships, and other relevant issues.
Assist onsite with conference logistics and coordination (rooms, equipment, speakers, meals, hotel, etc.) as requested. Responsible for onsite logistics and coordination and support for internationals
5. Prepare reports to support operations including the international program. This includes the research (external and internal resources) necessary to provide the information, compile and format the information, perform any calculations and analysis needed, and utilize appropriate programs (database, spreadsheet, etc.) to present reports.
6. Communicate with vendors, affiliates, and other constituencies to provide and receive information, build relationships, and resolve problems. Communicate via email, telephone, written correspondence, etc. Communicate our Christian pro-life mission, vision, core beliefs and values as appropriate.
7. Process affiliation for pregnancy help organizations and establish and maintain records (electronic and hardcopy).
8. Maintain appropriate records for our organization.
9. Provide data processing and word processing support

Additional:

1) Working cooperatively with Executive Director and the AFLA Leadership Team, provide creative input as AFLA /SV seeks ways to further engage with clients.
2) Assist in the annual volunteer/staff training, providing training and input as necessary.

POSITION 2. CLIENT SERVICES COORDINATOR
Qualifications:

4. Expresses full agreement with corporation’s Statement of Principle, Mission Statement, Articles of Incorporation, and By-Laws and abides by AFLA’s Policies and Procedures.
5. Maintains consistent life-affirming philosophy and would never refer or advise a woman to have an abortion. (When a situation arises where a woman’s life is at risk, the clinic advocates taking measures to preserve her life, hoping that the woman and the child can both be saved.)
6. Seeks to honor God in the area of Biblical purity – including sexual abstinence until marriage and faithfulness within marriage.
7. Respects confidentiality.
8. Ability to work well interpersonally with staff, volunteers, and clients.
9. Able to manage time effectively in a fast paced work environment.
10. Possesses good organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

The Client Services Coordinator is responsible for two main areas at AFLA: 1) overseeing the volunteers and 2) the Client Services of the center. These two areas are often in tandem, as many volunteers regularly interact with clients. In general, the Client Services Coordinator seeks to help volunteers thrive in their role(s) by creating a spirit of unity among various volunteer teams so AFLA runs smoothly. The CSC also oversees the administrative aspects of the Aspire Program, including the class and appointment schedule and the Points Place resource area.

Duties:

Volunteer Management:

1) Discuss with Executive Director volunteer needs for center and actively recruit well-suited volunteers for those needs. This can be done through tables at major events, visiting partner churches, speaking to small groups, etc.
2) Shepherd interested volunteers through the application process, from their initial interest to final interview. Discern level of interest and gifting with center needs. Keep
volunteer packets comprehensive and up-to-date, and follow up with references as needed. Review completed applications and conduct final interviews, with Executive Director as needed.
3) Implement volunteer initial orientation to AFLA and their role, supplying each volunteer with that role’s job description.
4) Assist in the annual training program for staff and volunteers in conjunction with the Executive Director, Nurse Manager, and Counselor.
5) Develop and maintain a system to manage and track volunteer participation and oversee volunteer scheduling. Keep up-to-date files (containing a check list of annual requirements, i.e. training completion, health screening, policies and procedures quiz, etc.) on each volunteer.
6) Seek out and implement ways to retain quality volunteers, through regular communication, building relationships with each volunteer, and assisting Executive Director with the annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner (in December).
7) Regularly monitor volunteer effectiveness and conduct regular evaluations, proactively implementing any disciplinary actions as necessary.

Client Services:

1) Oversee all aspects of clients’ Aspire Program experience, ensuring excellence at every stage of client involvement, including initial appointment, class and appointments, and graduation/completion process.
2) Personally meet, and/or train volunteers to meet, with clients for initial Aspire appointment, reviewing requirements for participation in the program.
3) Develop ways to accurately compile client statistics, tracking the number of clients in the program by keeping client physical and virtual files up to date and working with Executive Director on strategic goals to grow program.
4) In conjunction with Nurse Manager (who oversees medical curriculum and nurse volunteer teachers), oversee class and module curriculum and scheduling, accurately tracking class attendance and acquisition of client points.
5) Develop, maintain, and annually review Points Place policies, training and regularly communicating with all resource volunteers for consistent implementation.

POSITION 3. NURSE MANAGER (PART TIME)

Responsibilities:

The Nurse Manager provides support and care to the clients and maintains professional standards of care, following the ANA Code of Ethics. Under the general supervision of the Medical Director and Executive Director, the Nurse Manager is responsible for immediate supervision of a wide variety of clinic functions, planning and performing direct and indirect nursing interventions, and is responsible for supervising, organizing, planning, assessing and monitoring the medical services provided by Clarity Solutions for Women. The Nurse Manager also works in conjunction with physicians, nurses, and lay counselors to assure that patients are receiving the best medical, nursing, and psychosocial care possible.

Duties:

Management:

1. Develops, maintains, reviews, and updates center policies and procedures.
2. Maintains a working knowledge of nursing methods, principles and practices in relation to the prevention and treatment of disease, safety and infection control, clinical systems, supplies, and equipment.
3. Provides nursing care: assesses client’s needs and makes nursing judgments that reflect safe nursing practices.
4. Maintains accurate records.
6. Provides education for patient and family to develop an understanding of their health condition.
7. Oversees client follow-up per follow-up procedures and standardized procedures.
8. Oversees performance of pregnancy tests and ultrasounds.

Staff Development

1. Assess and interview qualified medical team volunteers to meet needs of the center.
2. Oversees training and orientation of the center medical team volunteers.
3. Participates in establishing and conducting in-service meetings.
4. Conducts medical team meetings and discussions in evaluating the center services, policies, procedures, and protocols.

Public Relations

1. Represents the center in the community as delegated by the Executive Director.
2. Attends medical conferences that offer professional training and information pertinent to the center’s practices.

Personal Development

1. Maintains professional license.
2. Increases knowledge of management, obstetrical, and gynecological care and women’s health issues.
