Lukanga Water Supply and Sanitation Company Limited (LgWSC) is a private company established under the Companies’ Act CAP 388 of the Laws of Zambia. It was incorporated on 21st March 2006 as a Commercial Water Utility (CU) Limited by shares wholly owned by the Local Authorities in Central Province. The CU was established as part of the government water sub-sector reforms to improve delivery of water supply, sewerage, and sanitation services to the urban and peri-urban population in the Province.

The company is in a process of implementing a new and exciting strategic direction for the period 2021-2025 and therefore seeks to engage talent to drive the company towards its new vision and mission.

To fulfill this mandate, the Company has placed emphasis on delivering an excellent service to both its external and internal customers. The Company seeks individuals who are ready to join the crusade towards effective and efficient delivery of services to our esteemed customers in the most professional way. Applications are therefore, invited from suitably qualified Zambians with performance-based backgrounds to fill the following vacancies;

1. Manager Customer Service (Grade L3; Required No: 1)

Job purpose

To develop, implement and maintain an effective customer service programme aimed at satisfying customer needs. Responsible for customer education and monitoring of systems affecting customers to ensure conclusive closure of customer enquiries.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 School Certificate [ZQF 2B]
  • Minimum professional qualifications: Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing or equivalent. [ZQF 7]
  • Relevant work experience: Up to 3 years in a busy commercial environment.
  • Must be analytical, innovative and in touch with the current business trends
  • Must be an effective communicator
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft word, excel and power point

2. Senior Management Accountant (Grade L3; Required No: 1)

Job Purpose

To assist the Finance Manager in the day-to-day functions and in the performance of Management control of operations. Additionally, to supervise the stores function.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 School Certificate [ZQF 2B]
  • Minimum professional qualifications: Degree in Accountancy, ZICA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification. [ZQF 7]
  • Relevant work experience: Up to 3 years in a busy commercial environment.
  • Must be a member of ZICA
  • Working knowledge of Pastel
  • Computer literacy in word and Excel
  • Honesty and integrity
  • Good numeracy skills

3. Internal Auditor (Grade L3; Required No: 1)

Job Purpose

Responsible for effective management of internal Audit Department and provides advice to the Board and Senior Management on policy matters, regulations, and operational systems. To help LgWSC accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Professional training required for the job: ACCA, CIMA, CIA, CISA or any equivalent professional qualifications. [ZQF 7]
  • Must be a member of ZICA
  • At least 3 years Relevant working experience in a reputable organization.
  • Ability to undertake complex audit assignments.
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good communication skills (both written & oral)
  • High level of honesty, integrity, objectively and independence of thought.
  • Good initiative and personal organization
  • Team player

4. Public Relations Officer (Grade L4; Required No: 1)

Purpose

In collaboration with the Public Relations Manager/other, to ensure that there is a mutually beneficial relationship between LgWSC and its customers through cultivation of positive relationships, resolution of customer complaints and responding to customer suggestions positively to cultivate customer loyalty.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Minimum professional qualification; Degree in Mass Communication, Public Relation or the equivalent. [ZQF 7]
  • At least 3 years work experience in a similar role.
  • Professional membership.
  • Must be of pleasant personality and proactive to anticipate customer reactions
  • Must be a member of ZPRA

5. Project Engineer (Grade L4; Required No: 1)

Purpose

Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures and facilities, such as channels, dams, irrigation pipelines, power plants, and water and sewage systems.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Degree in Civil or equivalent from a reputable institution. [ZQF 7]
  • Current EIZ Practicing Licence.
  • At least 3 years in a related position in a reputable company.
  • Fresh graduates may also be considered as Management Trainees
  • Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Computer literate with wide knowledge of Engineering packages like AutoCAD, GIS & Maintenance Management.
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence.

6. Customer Service Officer (Grade 5; Required No. 1)

Purpose

Under the supervision of the Manager Customer Service, implement and maintain an effective customer care programme aimed at satisfying customer needs.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Diploma in Marketing, Business Administration or equivalent. [ZQF 6]
  • Computer literate and proficient in Excel and word
  • Must be an effective communicator with ability to handle difficult customers

7. Legal Assistant (Grade L6; Required No: 1)

Purpose

To assist in the enhancement of the Company legal effectiveness by developing case information, evidence, and settlement options; tracking cases; supporting and participating in trial proceedings and keeping all legal records properly.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Minimum professional qualifications.
  • Diploma in Law or any related field. [ZQF 6]
  • Relevant work experience.
  • Three years experience in an established organisation.
  • Required competencies and personal attributes:
  • Must be of Reporting Skills, Research Skills, Legal Administration Skills, Litigation, Client Relationships, Organization, Planning, Attention to Detail, Confidentiality, Dependability, Client Confidentiality

8. Maintenance Superintendent (Grade L5; Required No: 1)

Co-ordinates the activities of maintenance personnel, ensuring optimization of duties and compliance with schedules. Ensures the work’s program is followed.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Full School Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. [ZQF 6]
  • Current EIZ Practicing Licence.
  • 2 years’ work experience in a similar position in a reputable organization.
  • Fresh graduates may be considered as Management Trainees.
  • Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
  • A valid driver’s license is a must.

9. Asset Management Superintendent (Grade L5; Required No: 1)

Purpose

The primary role of the Physical Assets Superintendent is to establish and oversee the daily and long-term strategic management of assets within LgWSC. Establishes service standards, policies and processes and monitors assets throughout assets lifecycle.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Full School Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Diploma in finance, accounting, economics, business administration or related field. [ZQF 6]
  • Several years’ experience in asset management or related field preferred
  • Relevant professional membership a plus

10. Workshop Superintendent (Grade 5; Required No: 1)

Purpose

Co-ordinates the activities of workshop personnel, ensuring optimization of duties and compliance with schedules. Ensures the work’s program is followed.

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Full School Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. [ZQF 6]
  • Current EIZ Practicing Licence.
  • 2 years work experience in a similar position in a reputable organization.
  • Fresh graduates may be considered as Management Trainees.
  • Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
  • A valid driver’s license is a must.

11. Electrician (Grade L7; Required No: 1)

Requirements
  • Grade 12 School Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Craft Certificate [ZQF 4]in power electrical or equivalent from a reputable Institution.
  • At least 2 years experience in a similar position.
  • Current EIZ Practicing Licence.
  • Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
  • Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Must have a traceable ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be physically fit as the job involves extended periods of physical efforts.
  • A valid driver’s license is a must.

12. Driver (Grade L8; Required No. 2)

Requirements
  • Grade 12 School Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Craft Certificate in Auto Mechanics from a reputable institution. [ZQF 4]
  • Current EIZ Practicing Licence.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in plant maintenance will be an added advantage.
  • Must have a traceable ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be physically fit as the job involves extended periods of physical efforts.
  • A valid driver’s license class C is a must.

13. Fitter (Grade L7; Required No: 1)

Requirements
  • Grade 12 School Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Craft Certificate in mechanical fitting or equivalent from a reputable Institution. [ZQF 4]
  • Current EIZ Practicing Licence.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in plant maintenance will be an added advantage.
  • Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Must have a traceable ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be physically fit as the job involves extended periods of physical efforts.
  • A valid driver’s license is a must.

14. Auto Electrician (Grade L7; Required No: 1)

Requirements
  • Grade 12 School Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Craft Certificate [ZQF 4] in Electrical Auto Mechanics or equivalent from a reputable institution.
  • Current EIZ Practicing Licence.
  • At least
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
  • Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Must have a traceable ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be physically fit as the job involves extended periods of physical efforts.
  • A valid driver’s license is a must.

15. Customer Care Assistant – Call Center (Grade L7; Required 2)

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Certificate in Marketing, Business Administration, Public Relations or equivalent from a reputable Institution. [ZQF 4]
  • Able to make simple calculations accurately and communicate with superiors and customers
  • 1 year work experience
  • Must be of pleasant personality and show courtesy in deals with customers

16. Customer Service Assistant (Grade L7; Required 10)

Requirement
  • Grade 12 Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Craft Certificate in Plumbing and Sheet Metal from a reputable Institution. [ZQF 4]
  • Able to make simple calculations accurately and communicate with superiors and customers
  • 1 year work experience
  • Courtesy as deals with several customers

17. Plumbers (Grade L7; Required No: 8)

Requirements
  • Grade 12 School Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Craft Certificate in Plumbing and Sheet Metal from a reputable Institution. [ZQF 4]
  • At least 2 years experience in similar position.
  • Current EIZ Practicing Licence.
  • Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
  • Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • Must have a traceable ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be physically fit as the job involves extended periods of physical efforts.

18. Plant Operators (Grade L7; Required No: 4)

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Craft Certificate in Water and Sewerage Operations, Electrical or Mechanical from a reputable institution. [ZQF 4]
  • Current EIZ Practicing Licence.
  • Fresh graduates may also be considered as Management Trainees.
  • Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
  • Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • 2 years work experience.
  • In depth practical knowledge of Water and Sewerage plant operations.

19. Plant Attendants (Grade L8; Required No: 6)

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Trade Test in plumbing, fitting, water operations or equivalent. [ZQF 3]
  • Current EIZ Practicing Licence.
  • 1 year work experience.
  • Freshly tested graduates will also be considered.
  • Traceable experience in the water sector will be an added advantage.

20. Boiler Maker [Metal Fabrication] (Grade L7; Required No:1)

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Craft Certificate in Metal fabrication. [ZQF 4]
  • Current EIZ Practicing Licence.
  • At least 2 years experience

21. Sanitary Attendants (Grade L8; Required No: 4)

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • Trade Test in plumbing, fitting, water operations or equivalent. [ZQF 3]
  • 1 year work experience.
  • Current EIZ Practicing Licence.
  • Freshly tested graduates will also be considered.
  • Traceable experience in the water sector will be an added advantage.

22. Assistant Sanitary Attendants (Grade L9; Required No: 3)

Requirements
  • Grade 12 Certificate. [ZQF 2B]
  • 1 year work experience.
  • Preferrable resident in Kabwe
  • Traceable experience in the water sector will be an added advantage.
