Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly motivated and committed employee for the position of a Mechanical Resources Coordinator to join the versatile Process Maintenance team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Superintendent – Mechanical Maintenance, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe storage and efficient operation, and maintenance of the rigging and lifting equipment, Workshop tools and equipment; and ensuring the mobile equipment (cranes, forklift, light trucks etc.), Riggers, Machinist and Tool Store persons are utilized effectively to achieve excellence in the mine equipment operations.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise the day-to-day operation of Riggers and Crane Operators in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
  • Keep a register of all the tools and equipment and provide status i.e. Cranes, Light vehicles, Light trucks, Forklift, Lifting gear and scaffolding materials etc.
  • Review and execute weekly maintenance schedules and ensure priority maintenance activities are prioritized and managed effectively.
  • Manage shift roster, annual leave, and sick leave of Riggers, Crane Operators, Tool Store Persons, and Machinist to always ensure coverage.
  • Supervise/Coordinate lifting, rigging and scaffolding works with maintenance execution teams, to ensure safe access to equipment and maximize availability.
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of up-to-date job procedures for all tasks performed within the function.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Minimum Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical engineering Fields
  • Minimum 5 years’ working experience in fixed plant maintenance in mining environment.
  • Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
  • Competent in incident/accident investigation
  • Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness.
