The company has a total complement of over 800 highly trained and professional staff spread across the region and seeks to fill the positions of Laboratory Technician in Lusaka, Zambia.

Reporting to the Manager, the Laboratory Technician will be responsible for all laboratory activities within the section. This will include performing routine and complex analytical tests of water samples and provide accurate data to the line manager for optimal recommendation of the most suitable water treatment solution. He/She may also be required to conduct other activities as assigned by the manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Perform routine analysis of raw water samples submitted from sales engineers and clients.
  • Carry out sample collection from various customer sources and conduct on-site testing for crucial operations.
  • Carry out routine analysis on in-process samples and recommend adjustments based on results.
  • Capture information on LIMS (Laboratory Information and Management System) from inspections for statistical analysis and quality control and generate relevant reports.
  • Carry out microorganisms tests on water samples i.e E-Coli, Coliformas and total bacteria
  • Prepare and standardise laboratory reagents.
  • Analyse market samples, product trial, customer complaints and investigations.
  • Adherence to national and international water quality standards e.g WHO & ZEMA ,GMP and Good Housekeeping
  • Take corrective and preventive actions whenever necessary during execution of duties which may involve reporting problems to the Supervisor to ensure proper and correct handling of non-conformances.
Desired Experience & Qualification
  • Diploma/Degree in laboratory technology, Environmental science, Analytical chemistry and Microbiology.
  • Knowledge of standards & regulations and familiar with water quality guidelines both local and international
  • 2-3 years’ relevant experience as Laboratory Technician in a busy laboratory.
  • Have a basic understanding of laboratory principles.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
