JOB ADVERT – JUNIOR ENGINEER

Lake Petroleum Limited is a regional player in the petroleum industry, committed to delivering high-quality products and services. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and innovative Junior Engineer to join our team and contribute to the success of our operations.

JOB PURPOSE

As a Junior Engineer, you will work closely with the Head of Engineering, gaining hands-on experience in the design, development, and execution of engineering projects. You will also play a key role in supervising equipment repairs, preventative maintenance and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Head Engineer with collecting data and preparing Request for Quotations (RFQs) for minor works.

  • Supervise contractors during the construction, renovation, and maintenance of buildings and mechanical works.

  • Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

  • Perform preventive maintenance and oversee contractors performing professional repairs.

  • Coordinate design consultants, engineers, and quantity surveyors to ensure projects meet Lake Petroleum’s quality, design, and safety standards.

  • Issue work permits and conduct safety induction meetings with contractors, ensuring adherence to safety guidelines.

  • Obtain competitive quotations for work performed by contractors and items supplied for projects.

  • Liaise with local authorities to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.

  • Monitor customer site compliance for product receiving, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and measurement processes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Basic knowledge of construction, maintenance, and equipment repair processes.

  • Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and engineering software is a plus.

  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the company.
