Job Title: Information Technology Project Coordinator
Mission/Core Purpose of the Job:
The mission is to coordinate and facilitate the completion of IT solution deliveries for various teams across the business in alignment with the requirements of MTN Zambia’s overall objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning: Outline milestones that align with the delivery of new or existing solutions and services;
- Requirements & Design: Understands requirements to support delivery; Recommends changes to the requirements within the scope of the deliverables. Understands the solution design for business and systems; Recommends improvements to the overall design within the scope of the deliverables;
- Development & Testing: Understands the system components that are being delivered in support of the project. Contributes to the review of test plans; Coordinates the systems internal and user acceptance testing; Adheres to bug reporting & tracking policies to ensure coverage;
- Deployment / Post Implementation Testing: Monitors the deployment/implementation of a given enhancement; Ensures that the deployment is successful via participation in Post Implementation Testing;
- Reporting: Provides thorough and accurate status and project reporting to the team lead and other stakeholders where appropriate. Takes ownership and ensures the timely resolution of open items. Escalations must be timely;
- Collaboration – Facilitates Product Release Meetings & Documentation; Ensures that issues and risks are identified, understood, and dealt with in a manner that mitigates risk to scope and schedule;
- Documents and communicates all changes for a release in release notes which are published to both Internal and cross-functional teams, and the business;
- Coordinates Release Content and Effort: Based on product commitments (migration data, regulatory data, and additional product content), customer and vendor service requests, and changes to support third-party applications.
Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in IT/Software Engineering or a related discipline;
- Certification in Project Management (PMP, CAPM, PRINCE2 etc) and/or Business Analysis will be an added advantage;
- 1+ years’ experience in all aspects of Project Coordination, Management and reporting on an IT project;
- Grade 12 Certificate. (5 O’ Level credits, including compulsory English Language and Mathematics);
- Understanding of software development life cycle and software development methodologies;
- Participation in implementation projects across multiple disciplines is a plus;
- Ability to identify core and associated needs of a given situation or solution, understand patterns, assess data and user feedback to address challenges pertaining to project scope;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to effectively present ideas and understanding to small groups;
- Ability to show empathy & understanding while ensuring adherence to standards to deliver efficiently;
- Ability to quickly learn new concepts and software technologies is necessary;
- High computer application literacy including Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn internal business systems;
- Experience in telecommunication and/or business case development a plus.
