Job Title: ICT Specialist

Yalelo, is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and hard-working individual to work as an ICT Specialist. The ICT Specialist drives the implementation of strategy for infrastructure operations and maintenance to ensure availability of stable and secure systems and networks.

In addition to this they help to manage project resource allocation, develop infrastructure implementation plans, support day to day operations and manage a team of ICT Officers.

They also scope out policies and set performance expectations and finally they aid in identifying problems and present new methodologies/solutions to key stakeholders to enhance and improve the delivery of infrastructure operations and maintenance services.

Location: Lusaka with Occasional Travel around the country and to Siavonga

The Right-Fit candidate will:

Oversee Infrastructure Operations and Performance

• Perform routine checks on infrastructure operations activities in accordance with the IT Operations standards and procedures
• Advise senior ICT management on infrastructure operations and maintenance-related issues
• Configure infrastructure and related computing environments such as computer hardware, systems software, applications software
• Assist with monitoring daily infrastructure traffic and performance
• Perform minor infrastructure repairs in accordance with design or installation specifications

Manage infrastructure Implementation and optimization

• Integrate solutions with other applications and platforms based on engineering requirements
• Develop new alerts and monitoring techniques based on engineering requirements
• Forecast utilization patterns and identifies modifications or upgrades
• Conduct capacity workload modelling and availability analysis for platforms and environments
• Recommend changes and/or enhancements for improved systems availability, reliability and performance
• Recommend and implement software or hardware changes to rectify problems or address improvement opportunities
• Assist in the design, implementation and execution of back-up and disaster recovery plans for infrastructure

Resolve infrastructure and system-related incidents

• Conduct risk assessments of systems and infrastructure
• Act as the second point of contact for infrastructure and system related incidents
• Investigate cause of systems issues and resolve issues to ensure uninterrupted operations
• Resolve escalated ICT infrastructure and system related support issues to identify root cause and potential solutions
• Escalate unresolved infrastructure and system related incidents for resolution
• Document’s incidents and track resolution in management systems

The Essentials:

• Experience working with various operating systems (iOS, Ubuntu Server, RedHat, Windows Server, Windows Desktop, iOS)
• Experience with computer networking; firewalling, routing and switching
• Experience with or knowledge with SQL scripting
• Experience with trouble ticket management using ticketing tools such as MAXIMO, REMEDY, ZENDESK, etc. current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring
• Experience with computer networking; firewalling, routing and switching
• Expertise with implementing, configuring, and testing software solutions
• Strong organizational skills with a problem-solving attitude

Qualifications:

• Advanced Diploma or bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience in ICT support
