HR Operations Professional (24-Month FTC)


Role purpose


  • This job serves the interests of the organization in the South-East Africa country group by providing HR Operations GHP functionality, onboarding and offboarding and coordination for relevant Human
  • Resource activities within the country group.
  • This job supports the relevant local management in the resolution of individual local HR issues, interacts with employee and links the local operations to HROP South-East Africa as appropriate and necessary to assure a sound HR service delivery.
  • Contact point for all employees in matters relating to HR Operations and processing of Company payroll.
  • The job holder reports directly to the HR Operations Head.

Key responsibilities and tasks

  • The job holder provides co-ordination for all HR Operations activities relevant to SAP GHP, onboarding, offboarding and digitalization and automation of these activities across South-East Africa, but with focus on SAC countries (Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Mozambique).
  • Quality compensation data management and maintenance in the GHP system including employees’ position grades, base pay, STI/ SIP target %, salary bands, benefits; health, WIBA/GPA and employee wellness.
  • Ensure provision of ongoing HR Operations services and assistance to the departments within the company in order to timely identify, analyse and ensure solutions for all HR Operations related needs and problems allowing the departments to focus on core activities and on obtaining business objectives.
  • Responsible for implementing of Company statutory acts and maintaining HR administration (personnel files, employment contracts, absence records), within SAC countries.
  • Ensure effective Personnel and Payroll Administration Control within SAC.
  •  He/she is familiar with the key Bayer and country group HR processes and functions and ensures that these are taken into account at the local company and group platform level as far as possible.
  • Strives for best practices in the standardization, harmonization and alignment of local HR activities, but always with the business requirements in mind and in alignment with Head of HR Operations Sout- East Africa.
  • Supports local management in communicating HR Operations issues to leaders and employees.
  • Proactively identify service delivery issues and take appropriate action to resolve the issues, including process/technology changes, in collaboration with other platform functions as required.
  • Drive continuous improvement across HR Operations i.e. upskilling and re-educating managers and employees, enhancing knowledge portals and information for managers and employees, redesigning processes and managing subsequent change activities.
  • Actively contribute to the HR community (local and global) and ensure knowledge transfer of best practice from and to the global HR community.
  • Responsible for provision of STI, LTI, SIP provisions and maintaining correct WPA positing
  • Responsible for the management of the Leave management system including onboarding and offboarding of employees and providing leave balance cost for accruals.
  • Ensuring compliance for PO/PRs for HR service providers in the region.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in Human Resources
  • Excellent understanding of HR operations, market and trends, enablers and new technologies
  • Strategic mind-set, Solution oriented and Service driven
  • Fluent in English
  • Detail orientated
  • Structured approach
  • Excellent analytical capability
  • Ability to simplify concepts and processes
  • Experience in project management will be an advantage
