The North Western Water Supply and Sewerage Company Limited (NWWSSCL) is a commercial utility, providing water and sanitation services in the North – Western Province. The Company has a vision of “striving for excellence in water supply and sanitation”. It is value driven and performance oriented and since inception in the year 2000 has been among the top performing utilities. The Company operates in Eight (8) Districts; Solwezi, Mwinilunga, Kasempa, Mufumbwe, Manyinga, Kabompo, Zambezi and Chavuma. The Company envisioned to take over provision of water and sanitation services in the newly created districts of Mushindamo, Kalumbila and Ikelenge.
HEAD- INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY – G3 (X1)
1.0 Reporting Line: Managing Director
2.0 Job Purpose
To plan, manage and provide quality, reliable and modern IT services that support the operations of the Company and contribute to overall efficiency, productivity and attainment of Company objectives
3.0 Main Duties and Responsibilities
3.1 Plans and manages IT systems for the Company, sources IT systems, and installs software and hardware to meet Company needs.
3.3 Investigates and resolves problems in the IT systems operations, manages and minimizes systems down-time and ensures smooth running of all it systems.
3.4 Liaises with suppliers of equipment, software and negotiates for best terms, to ensure cost effectiveness and value for money.
3.5 Provides specialist advice to management on IT policy issues and monitors trends and developments in Information Technology in order to ensure that systems used by the Company are in line with current developments.
3.6 Manages the company’s databases and key software packages such as MUNICIPAL billing software, PASTEL accounting software to ensure reliable data, security, integrity, accuracy and confidentiality and authorization levels.
3.7 Liaises with the Commercial Manager to ensure efficient and effective billing
3.8 Maintains the Company’s website
3.9 Provides user support and conducts training for users in computer applications and/or
3.10 Monitors the NWASCO Information System
3.11 Prepares the IT annual budget and once approved, monitors subsequent expenditure.
3.12 Agrees, monitors and reviews performance of subordinates to ensure that they meet their performance objectives.
3.13 Performs any other duties assigned by the supervisor from time to time
4.0 Knowledge and Skill Requirements
4.1 Minimum Academic qualifications:
- Grade Twelve School /Form Five Certificate with 5’O’ level Credits including Mathematics and English Language
4.2 Minimum Vocational/Professional qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Computing or Computer Science.
4.3 Minimum relevant work experience
- 5 years post qualifying experience in a reputable Company.
4.4 Required competencies/Personal qualities
- Good planning and organizational skills
- Demonstrable Technical competence in IT operations, Networks, Database and Systems management
- Good communication skills (both written and oral)
- Knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies
- Coaching and presentation skills
- Good analytical skills
- Good understanding of Company’s business processes
- Must be a registered Member of EIZ or Information and Communication Technology Association of Zambia
