Finance Manager

Job summary

Reporting to the General Manager/CEO, CIDRZ LTD  the incumbent will initiate and process Financial Transactions, enforce Internal controls, prepare monthly Budgets and manage compliance to statutory and regulatory obligations such as Taxes, fees/levies, contributions in liaison with the Head of Finance under CIDRZ NGO.

Main duties

  • Initiating and processing financial transactions involving income, expenses and balance sheet accounts.
  • Supervision and management of sales and receipting operations by the Cashier.
  • Payments processing on staff payments, vendors, statutory and regulatory remittances, etc.
  • Enforcing internal controls as stipulated in the Finance and Accounting Policy Manual and indeed other related operating policies and procedures.
  • Process monthly GL reconciliations on income, expenses, and nominal ledgers to ensure accuracy of balances reported in financial statements.
  • In liaison with the CEO, prepare the annual budget and detailed supporting schedules.
  • Prepare monthly budget-to-actual financial performance appraisal reports for Management’s review and decision making.
  • Prepare quarterly financial performance forecasts to year-end.
  • Preparation of quarterly financial reports including the income statement, statement of financial position and cashflow for Management and Board reporting.
  • Preparation of annual financial statements for statutory audit.
  • Management of cash transactions to ensure proper accountability of cash sales and cash receipts.
  • Enforce banking procedures on cash sales and receipts in line with provisions in the Finance and Policy Manual.
  • Perform daily cash sales reconciliation and bank reconciliation statements to ensure completeness of banking transactions.
  • Monitor daily liquidity/cash levels across all accounts and currencies and make recommendations for mobilization of liquidity to meet operation requirements. This should include sale and purchase of foreign currency amounts.
  • Monitor and collect accounts receivable balances arising from credit sales extended to corporate clients in line with the Credit Sales Policy.
  • Monitor and settle accounts payable balances in line with credit terms agreed upon with vendors of goods and services.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of Receivables and Payables at individual customer/supplier level and GL control account level.
  • Maintain a comprehensive fixed assets register reconciled to the GL control accounts.
  • Perform monthly fixed assets accounting procedures on capitalization, depreciation, disposal, revaluation, etc.
  • Carry out regular fixed assets verification to validate location and state of fixed assets to provide assurance on continued availability of fixed assets.
  • Accounting for inventory/stock by reconciling systems balances to physical stock and carrying out regular stock-counts with the Stores Manager.
  • Maintain inventory/stock records for stock receipts, sales, issuances, damages, losses, etc. and reconcile as necessary.
  • Manage compliance to statutory and regulatory obligations such as taxes, fees/levies, contributions, etc. in liaison with the Head of Finance under CIDRZ NGO.
  • Handle all related accounting transactions and GL reconciliations to ensure accurate and proper recording.
  • Process payments using correct amounts and in time to avoid incurring any financial penalties.
  • Carry out other financial and operational duties as may be assigned by Management from time to time.

Qualifications

  • Full Grade Twelve (12) Certificate.
  • Degree in Accountancy or equivalent.
  • Full professional qualification such as CA Zambia/CIMA/ ACCA.
  • Must be a registered member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant post qualification experience, working in a busy finance and accounting environment.
  • Must possess practical skills in management and financial reporting.
