Job Description
Decision Support
- Serve as a subject matter expert on financial data integrity, accounting and business processes, analysis, and reporting for end-to-end Financial Management in business areas.
- Support the business by identifying how the business units create, drive and destroy value.
- Take a commercial view on business and provide contextual insights into performance reports by generating finance narratives and the insights driving the business.
- Assess the financial feasibility and profitability of new products before they are implemented in the business.
- Review and challenge the financial business case for all projects or products to be undertaken in the business and monitor benefits by gathering data and calculating benefits, returns and costs.
- Perform profitability analysis of funded products using margin analysis.
- Present financial results to business highlighting performance against plans, prior performance and providing meaningful insights on possible risks and opportunities for the near future.
- Ensure that the CFO is appraised of key financial issues and any identified risks & opportunities within the business that may need to be raised with executive leadership to enable timely management.
Budgeting & Projections
- Contribute to the effectiveness of Finance planning processes (budgeting, projections, and reporting).
- Understand the business units’ financial ambitions, growth aspirations and strategy to ensure alignment of performance reporting and budgeting or projection targets.
- Understand and assist in formulating and reviewing the assumptions provided by business to support the budget and projections.
- Provide accurate, complete, and timeous reporting of projections to business heads and relevant stakeholders. Identify and track any business risks and opportunities, considering their impact on projections.
- Support the Management Accountant in developing processes and controls to ensure that the processes for budgeting and projections are effective, in support of business strategies and are completed within the required timelines with the appropriate level of detail.
Analysis, Monitoring & Reporting
- Analyse and manage the achievement of the business financial targets and objectives.
- Perform detailed analysis of segmental performance and product profitability.
- Ensure quality and timeous delivery of accurate financial and non-financial management information to support business objectives and expectations.
- Appropriately use both financial and non-financial metrics to prepare valid and insightful comments in an easy-to-understand manner for non-financial users.
- Responsible for continuous operational excellence and real-time responsiveness of finance to enable business to achieve growth and profitability objectives.
- Assess and drive improvement of business accounting practices and policies by applying principles within the relevant IFRS standards for financial reporting.
- Develop and implement control procedures arising from identified deficiencies or exceptions to support the production of error-free reports.
- Perform cost analysis, control and reporting for product related costs both direct product costs and Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) costs.
- Prepare the quarterly competitor analysis by providing detailed insights to what is happening in the industry.
- Continuously seeking ways to improve financial performance through deep dives and trend analyses.
Role / Person Specification
- CA (Zambia), ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- 5+ years professional financial management experience.
Knowledge and skills:
- Experience in executing finance processes.
- Experience in financial reporting, planning & analysis.
- Experience in commercial innovation environments.
- Broad Finance including strategic, commercial, legal, risk and operational aspects.
- Understanding of the financial services sector within a professional business environment.
