Cfb Medical Centre is a private hospital in Lusaka looking to recruit a dynamic individual to fill the position of:

DEBT COLLECTOR

We are looking for a results-driven and detail-oriented Debt Collector to join our Accounts team. The successful candidate will be responsible for following up on outstanding payments from clients, ensuring timely debt recovery, and maintaining positive relationships with patients and corporate partners. The ideal candidate should possess strong negotiation skills, a firm yet professional approach, and the ability to manage sensitive financial discussions with tact and integrity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Follow up on outstanding patient and corporate accounts to ensure timely settlement of balances.
• Communicate with debtors via phone calls, emails, and written correspondence in a professional and courteous manner.
• Maintain accurate records of all interactions and payment commitments in the system.
• Negotiate repayment plans and monitor adherence to agreed schedules.
• Prepare regular debtors’ reports and provide updates to the Finance Manager on collection progress.
• Collaborate with the billing and insurance teams to resolve discrepancies or disputed claims.
• Escalate chronic or unresponsive accounts in accordance with hospital policy.
• Ensure all collection activities comply with ethical standards and patient confidentiality regulations.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of debt recovery processes and internal controls.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in debt collection, credit control, or accounts receivable management.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with a firm but respectful approach.
• Excellent record-keeping and organizational abilities.
• Ability to handle sensitive financial matters with confidentiality and professionalism.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and accounting software.
• High level of integrity, accuracy, and accountability.
