Purpose of the Position

To promote the brand, socio-economic value and CSI to all stakeholder groups through all communication channels to build the MultiChoice Africa reputation and brand. To showcase leadership in the industry through thought leadership editorials. Build and consistently update the MCZ website.

Key Performance Objectives

Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement communications strategies to reach a traditional and digital media target audience with key messages and build out the Corporate Narrative
  • Manage external consultants to ensure that they deliver on what was contracted
  • Manage budget allocated

Media Relations

Corporate Communications

  • Streamline communications in-line with the corporate narrative and ensure that it adheres to the MultiChoice tonality and that it is coherent.
  • Write briefing documents for MCZ executives, press releases, thought leadership articles etc.
  • Research, develop, write and/or edit communications materials for internal and external communications such as stakeholder reports, opinion pieces and editorials
  • Develop and maintain corporate website to ensure messaging reflects corporate narrative and business objectives, and that the site serves as an effective communications tool for all stakeholders
  • Support the Corporate Affairs Manager to draft high-quality news releases, speeches, op-eds, position statements, fact sheets, brochures, presentations and other collaterals. Ensure proof points and numbers updated on regular basis
  • Organize staff town halls and all employee meetings and other select events, aligning closely with the Group CA team, HR and other departments

Corporate Social Investment

  • Define and develop the strategies which underpin MultiChoice Africa’s CSI objectives. This includes coming up with ideas, creating detailed plans, building relationships with partners and stakeholders, and then implementing and coordinating a range of activities and initiatives which are designed to have a positive impact on the environment and local communities
  • Source Ideas and Brief-in agency for on-air CSI on-air promo

Issues Management

  • Assist in the development and implementation of communications strategies for key issues that can potentially damage MultiChoice Zambia’s reputation
  • Proactive management of potential business issues

Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelors in Public Relations or Communication.

Experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a communication or public relations environment.
  • Previous experience in broadcasting, ICT, print-media would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of media ethics.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong social media and online communication skills
  • Ability to navigate and communicate in a multi-cultural, multi-country environment.
