Job Purpose

To maintain existing customer relationships and support with daily operations of the Convenience Retail shops as well as support the opening of new Convenience Retail shops, with the objective of delivering the Convenience Retail business goals.

Principal Accountabilities

  • To describe and develop strategic category plans for the shop network
  • To monitor market and competitor’s behaviours in the business
  • To track business performance and analyze the profit and loss data and identify gaps by site, while anticipating corrective actions
  • To review, implement and standardize space layout, pricing, ranging by store type and by buying missions
  • To effectively participate in development and presentation of quality Business Reviews, aiming to prove profitable success
  • To provide drawn understandable plans by category of product and store, in line with agreed merchandising strategy
  • To ensure shop offerings are managed according to the agreed strategy and Vivo standards
  • To prepare contracts and ensure adherence to terms and conditions of supply agreements as well as ensure compliance with marketing plans by negotiating appropriate terms with suppliers
  • To train and coach, merchandisers, shop staff and dealers and also give assistance and support to the retailers to increase profitability of the convenience retail business
  • To effectively build and strengthen the brand by continually identifying opportunities to optimize and capture the value of the brand
  • To develop and maintain a strong HSSE culture and protect Vivo Energy Zambia’s interest by ensuring that all HSSE standards and procedural compliance are adhered to and stakeholder relationships are managed pro-actively

  • Minimum of a Degree in Business Management/Marketing or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in category management in the Retail/FMCG
  • Strong professional background in convenience retail business
  • Proven track record in Retail shop business
  • Good customer communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to coach and train others
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Retail business acumen and proven problem solving skills
  • Proven negotiation skills
