ABOUT THE POSITION:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Commercial Manager to lead and coordinate commercial operations in a leading fertilizer company. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales growth, managing key relationships, and developing market strategies that enhance the company’s presence across the agricultural value chain. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in agronomy, agricultural marketing, or fertilizer sales, with the ability to anchor commercial, relationship, and distribution functions across all business units.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to achieve revenue and market share targets.
  • Lead commercial planning, forecasting, and performance management processes.
  • Build and manage strong relationships with key distributors, cooperatives, large-scale farmers, and government agencies.
  • Oversee regional sales teams and ensure effective distribution of fertilizer products nationwide.
  • Conduct market intelligence and competitor analysis to inform pricing and promotional strategies.
  • Coordinate marketing campaigns, trade fairs, and farmer outreach programs to promote brand visibility.
  • Negotiate supply agreements and strategic partnerships with stakeholders in the agriculture sector.
  • Work closely with the production, logistics, and finance departments to ensure smooth delivery and sales execution.
  • Monitor sales performance, margins, and customer satisfaction to improve profitability and service levels.
  • Provide commercial leadership and mentoring to the sales and marketing teams.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, or Marketing (Master’s degree preferred).
    • At least 7 years’ experience in commercial management, agribusiness, fertilizer sales, or agricultural input marketing.
    • Strong understanding of Zambia’s agricultural sector and fertilizer distribution landscape.
    • Proven experience in managing key accounts and large customer portfolios.
    • Excellent negotiation, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office, CRM tools, and sales reporting systems.
