CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Our client, the Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE) – Formerly Lusaka Stock Exchange) in the Capital Markets industry seeks to employ a competent and qualified individual for the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Main Purpose of Job: To oversee the supervision of LuSE operations and ensure adherence of all transactions, processes and procedures to the laws, rules and regulations in leading the capital market.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Overseeing the operations of LuSE and the Lusaka Clearing and Settlement Agency (LCSA) to maintain an orderly market that is fair, efficient, liquid and transparent;
• Formulating and managing implementation of strategic and operational plans;
• Developing Strategies to stimulate primary and secondary market activity in equities and bonds in a quest to enhance the Zambian capital market;
• Developing and overseeing the financial strategy of LuSE and the LCSA as a business to enhance shareholder value;
• Enforcing and continuously monitoring of compliance with the Rules of the Exchange,  Listings Rules and Central Share Depository (CSD) Rules;
• Reviewing of Systems, Operations and Procedures to ensure relevance in supporting the business of LuSE and the LCSA;
• Managing relations with internal and external stakeholders including appropriate Government agencies, regulators and captains of industry;
• Managing human capital as well as the performance management system of LuSE and the LCSA;
• Marketing and promoting the Zambian capital market in a quest to increase domestic and foreign investor participation;
• Supervising the trading activities in the Exchange and Trading Systems, the clearing and settlement of trades executed on the Exchange, and to take all necessary steps to maintain orderly and efficient trading and;
• Performing other functions as outlined in the Rules of the Exchange and Board Charter.

• Makes judgment or draws reasonable conclusions on the basis of logical analysis of challenges/situations.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Admin, Accountancy, Finance or related field.
• Master of Business Administration;
• 10 years’ relevant post qualifying work experience of which 6 years should be in a senior management position;
• Strong understanding of risk management, compliance and regulatory requirements;
• Demonstrable experience in developing business strategies and successfully leading their implementation;
• Demonstrated in depth knowledge of financial and capital;
• Strong understanding of corporate finance, governance and performance management principles
• Familiar with diverse business functions such as marketing, PR, finance, human resource, etc.
• In-depth knowledge of Corporate Governance and general management best practices and;
• Knowledge and track record of experience in capital markets – added advantage;
