ZESCO United Football Club

ZESCO United Football Club, ZUFC, is a company limited by guarantee and registered under the Companies act article 388 of the laws of Zambia. The Company is domiciled in Ndola and runs men’s football club in the Zambia Premier League (ZPL), Women’s Football team called ZESCO Ndola Girls and a developmental team called Malaiti Rangers Football club.

The club is affiliated to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), Confederation of African Football (CAF) and Federation International de Football Association.

The club seeks to recruit suitably qualified and experienced personnel to fill the following Positions;

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

The club is seeking an experienced Football Club Chief Executive Officer (CEO), to manage the day-to-day operations of the Football Club. The right candidate must be ready to build and model a great sports club culture, provide inspired leadership to the executive team, establish a great working relationship with all stakeholders and set a course for the football club’s strategy.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Club CEO shall be the head of the Secretariat and shall work under the direction and guidance of the Executive Chairman and Board to implement plans, strategies and decisions of the Board.

The Club CEO must steer the football Club to deliver the strategic objectives, but adhere to the ZPL, FAZ, CAF, FIFA Statutes as well the Club statutes, rules and policies.
The Club CEO shall be responsible for managing the key activities of the Club, including but not limited to Team travel arrangements, food, accommodation, travelling allowances, general welfare, football development, technical matters and compliance issues.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Be the coordinator of the day to day activities of the Club.

  • Offer leadership and strategic direction to all ZESCO United Football Club Secretariat employees and staff of the Club.
  • Coordinate the Club’s season program in liaison with other Club organs.
  • Liaise with, ZPL, FAZ and other national and international organizations as directed by the Board.
  • Be responsible for the development of the football administration.
  • Shall be responsible to the Executive Committee of the Club for the employment of support staff for the smooth operation of the Secretariat
  • Shall be the Board Secretary and responsible for the implementation of the decisions of the Board and the Executive Committee
  • Perform such other functions as shall be assigned by the Executive Committee and the Board from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in social Science or Equivalent qualification from recognized University vetted by the appointing Authority.
  • 5 years’ experience in Sports Administration at a senior management level
  • A Diploma in sports administration will be an added advantage.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Exceptional communication skills both oral and written with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Well-groomed so as to portray a good image of both the Club and Sponsor
  • Operational and strategic experience in a senior leadership role with responsibility for staff and budgets.
  • Business and commercial acumen with the ability to participate in the negotiation of player contracts, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of the ZPL, FAZ, CAF and FIFA Administrative Rules, Regulations and Procedures.
  • Computer Literacy, excellent ICT skills including MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint Excellent motivator, and team builder with excellent communication skills.
