Position Overview

A reinsurance company specializing in emerging markets is seeking an experienced professional to join its executive team as the Chief Claims Officer (CCO). This key strategic role involves overseeing the claims function, driving improvements, and ensuring exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

– Develop and implement the overall claims strategy in alignment with company goals.

– Lead and inspire the claims department to deliver high-quality services.

– Provide strategic direction, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

2. Claims Management

– Manage the entire claims process, from initial intake to final resolution, ensuring efficiency.

– Handle complex and high-value claims with expert guidance and decision-making.

– Implement best practices and standard operating procedures to enhance claims handling.

3. Client Engagement and Relationship Management

– Enhance client satisfaction through active engagement and a positive claims experience.

– Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, brokers, and industry stakeholders.

– Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and professional associations.

4. Reserving and Compliance

– Ensure accurate reserving practices in compliance with IFRS 17 and other regulations.

– Establish robust internal controls and audit mechanisms for compliance and risk management.

– Collaborate with finance and actuarial teams for accurate financial reporting and reserving.

5. Data Analysis and Reporting

– Monitor and analyze claims data to identify trends and support strategic decision-making.

– Prepare and present regular reports on claims performance to the executive team and board.

– Use data analytics to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the claims function.

6. Team Development and Management

– Mentor and develop the claims team, promoting professional growth and skill enhancement.

– Ensure training and development programs are in place for all claims staff.

– Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.

Qualifications

Experience:

– Over 10 years of experience in P&C reinsurance claims management, with significant leadership roles.

Education:

– Advanced degree in insurance, law, business administration, or a related field.

Skills and Attributes:

– Exceptional leadership and strategic thinking abilities.

– Deep technical expertise in P&C reinsurance claims, complex claims management, and IFRS 17.

– Strong client engagement and relationship management skills.
