Position: Bonds Specialist Underwriter
Reporting To: Head Technical Operations
Location: Lusaka, Zambia
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview
To Underwrite (review, price and offer terms) all Surety Facultative reinsurance, with focus on Professional analysis and Financial Prudency in order to grow a profitable book of business.
Key Responsibilities
- To analyze information provided by reinsurance applicants for Surety business.
- To makes decisions on reinsurance risks acceptances within the understanding of the underwriter, in accordance to company guidelines and limits.
- Recommends whether or not to offer reinsurance to applicants for risks above their decision-making authority.
- Assists in determining the relevancy of risk factors.
- Calculates premiums and appropriate amounts of coverage for surety reinsurance
- Provide risk quotes and terms of reinsurance, under the supervision of the Head of Technical Operations
- Respond adequately and timely to inquiries for all hub producers as referred to the underwriter.
- Process all contracts of reinsurance and approvals, and ensures that transactions are posted into the system ( Synergy) via the back-office processing
team. - Grows the company’s premium production across our chosen markets and meets personal assigned monthly and annual targets as set by management.
- Corresponds with brokers and cedants with the aim of developing effective relationships within the reinsurance market to promote the company.
- Meeting timelines for regularly required reports to management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
• Full Grade 12
• Minimum Diploma in Insurance, or Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Studies or related field.
