Electoral Commission of Zambia

The Electoral Commission of Zambia seeks to recruit two (02) qualified and experienced Zambian citizens on temporary basis to fill the positions of Assistant Accountants for a period of twelve (12) Months.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To carry out routine accounting operations relating to receivables and payables. The office bearers will also assist in capturing data in the IFMIS/SAP ERP in preparation of the Management accounts. They will also be instrumental in preparing budgets and bank reconciliations

REPORTING ACCOUNTABILITY

The Assistant Accountants will report to the Accountant – Payables.

KEY RESPONSIBILIY

  1. Receipts all cash and cheques received by the Commission using appropriate Commission procedure.
  2. Prepares on a weekly basis, a report of all receipts and bank deposits.
  3. Assists in capturing commitments and payments into the /IFMIS/SAP ERP for further processing.
  4. Records all payments into the /IFMIS/SAP ERP System.
  5. Keeps custody of all approved payment vouchers and release payments to relevant recipients recording all relevant details.
  6. Facilitates all banking services for the Commission on a daily basis.
  7. Keeps abreast of developments in area of speciality and adhere to the ethics code of conduct for the profession.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 

  1. Full Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in accountancy or part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or CA Zambia.
  3. Minimum 2 years post qualifying relevant experience.
  4. Must be a registered member of a relevant professional body.
