Yara Fertilizer Zambia Limited is looking to fill the permanent position of an Agronomy & Commercial Sales Manager – Zambia Cluster.

Area of responsibility: Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi.

Living location: Lusaka, Zambia.

Reporting to: General Manager – Zambia Cluster

Prerequisite

Assume responsibility for lawful and ethical commercial business processes in accordance with Yara best practices and policy compliance; HESQ and Ethics and Compliance.

Performance and Strategy

To own the commercial sales strategy implementation and performance within the Yara Zambia Cluster; Zambia, Mozambique, and Malawi, under the guidance of the General Manager – Zambia Cluster and in line with the Africa Business Unit budgets.

Agronomy

To drive the agronomic technical support function to commercial agricultural producers within the Yara Zambia Cluster by managing the Commercial Team, External Agents, and Soil Sampling & Sales Technician in the provision of services:

Analytics,

Solution based proposals,

Application processes,

Monitoring and evaluation of results.

Commercial and Volume Growth

Contribute to volume growth through profitable turnover of Yara own produced premium and differentiated products by implementing Yara developed farming solutions within the commercial sector of the Zambia Cluster.

Establish new regional markets and customer portfolios within business unit guidelines and budgets.

Contribute to digital marketing and farming solution development and platforms, in line with Africa Business Unit digital strategy.

Sales Administration, Pricing, Procurement and Forecasts

Contribute to commercial marketing and sales administration objectives within the assigned Africa Business Unit budgets and guidelines.

Contribute to the preparation of all Sales tender documents for executive management approval.

Contribute to the Cluster pricing schedules in line with Africa Business Unit budgets and guidelines.

Contribute to Cluster sales administration, procurement planning and forecasting objectives within the assigned Africa Business Unit budgets and guidelines.

Facilitate credit applicants’ document completion, submission, analysis, and recommendation.

Staff Management

Motivate, drive productivity, and provide a safe, engaging, and inclusive workplace for the Zambia Cluster Commercial Team, External Agents, and Soil Sampling & Sales Technician.

Stakeholder Management

Represent the Commercial Department by building productive relationships, in a diverse and inclusive manner, whilst applying principles of integrity towards both internal and external stakeholders.

Contribute to the achievement of synergy between departments in the Cluster and across Southern Africa to ensure optimisation of strategic and operational requirements.

Competencies, Business Expertise, Leadership, Problem Solving, Interpersonal Skills

Proficiency in the provision of productive solutions, monitoring and evaluation, relevant to management, agronomy, and sales.

Practical application of technical agronomy, sales principles and staff management skills, making sure stakeholders understand why tasks are performed and what the consequences of their actions are.

Self-directed ability to make independent decisions for the Commercial Sales department, within the boundaries of Africa Business Unit strategy and budget.

Analysis, judgment, and provision of solutions to the day-to-day challenges within the Commercial Department.

Analysis and provision of recommendations to forecasting and future Africa Business Unit Strategy.

Ability to communicate well and explain instructions for accurate execution.

Ability to influence and motivate others to work together in achieving set Goals and Key Performance Indicators.

Application of transparent Communication and Listening skills by encouraging openness and honesty and providing constructive feedback.

Qualifications and Experience

Degree in Agriculture, preferably with agronomy as a special field or previous commercial agriculture managerial experience.

Minimum 5 years senior management role with previous exposure to Yara management being an advantage.
