About the Role

We are now seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Accounts Payable Accountant to join our Finance team in Lusaka and play a key role in safeguarding the integrity of our financial records.

Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable & Supplier Management
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, payments and remittances
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve queries to maintain ledger accuracy and strong supplier relationships
  • Monitor compliance with agreed payment terms, KPIs and deadlines
  • Financial Controls & Reconciliations
  • Maintain and reconcile petty cash, bank accounts and tax transactions (VAT, Withholding Tax, PAYE, etc.)
  • Maintain an accurate fixed asset register, including acquisitions, depreciation and disposals
  • Support stock management through counts, reconciliations and control account monitoring
  • Reporting & Compliance
  • Support month-end close, management reporting and audit processes
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, tax and internal control requirements
  • Identify risks, discrepancies or control gaps and escalate appropriately
  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Work closely with Operations, Procurement and other departments to ensure alignment
  • Contribute to finance-led and cross-functional improvement initiatives
  • Commit to continuous professional development and skills growth

Qualifications

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Administration or a related field
  • A professional accountancy qualification is an added advantage
  • 2–4 years total accounting experience
  • 1–2 years specifically in Accounts Payable
  • Strong experience in invoice processing, reconciliations and payment processing (EFTs, cheques, bank/mobile transfers)
  • Practical knowledge of VAT, Withholding Tax and ZRA compliance processes
  • ERP or accounting system experience, with strong Excel and reporting skills
