WE ARE HIRING — SAFETY OFFICER (Zambia)
SMEI Projects is recruiting an experienced Safety Officer for a major SMPP engineering and construction project in Zambia.
Requirements:
✔ National Diploma or recognised qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
✔ Professional registration with a safety body (SACPCMP or similar)
✔ Valid Incident Investigation certificates and driver’s licence
✔ 5+ years as a Safety Officer on major SMPP engineering and construction projects
✔ Thorough knowledge of the OHS Act, Construction Regulations and applicable Zambian standards
✔ Proven experience compiling and maintaining project Health and Safety Files
✔ Strong computer literacy (MS Office), sober habits, willing to work away from home
Advantageous: Valid First Aid Certificate and experience on similar infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities: Implement and maintain the Project Health and Safety Plan, conduct daily inspections, audits and risk assessments, investigate incidents and near misses, deliver toolbox talks and inductions, maintain statutory registers and legal appointments, coordinate emergency preparedness, and liaise with the Client, Engineer and regulatory authorities.
