As the Operational Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the mining activities, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and safety. You will be responsible for managing staff, including drivers and fleet, and coordinating with various departments to achieve operational goals.

Requirements:

  • Matric/GCE Certificate or equivalent
  • Degree in Mining Engineering, Business Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in the mining industry, with a strong understanding of mining operations(8-10 years)
  • Demonstrated experience in managing staff and fleet, preferably in a mining context.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices in the mining industry.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Proficiency in operational management software and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily mining operations to maintain efficient workflow and productivity.
  • Coordinate with personnel, including drivers and fleet managers, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Implement and uphold safety protocols to foster a secure working environment.
  • Analyze operational performance to identify areas for enhancement and improvement.
  • Collaborate with various departments to streamline operations and boost efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international mining regulations and standards.
  • Prepare and present operational reports for senior management review.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation among team members.
  • Manage plant operation and quality procedures through maintenance planning and equipment allocation.
  • Oversee the preparation of production records and reports.
  • Develop and oversee operational budgets to optimize spending efficiency.
  • Supervise the acquisition and installation of new plant and equipment.
  • Lead the selection, training, and performance evaluation of staff.
  • Update production scheduling monthly based on market demand.
  • Facilitate processes to optimize yield, throughput, and equipment availability.
  • Adapt workforce to operational needs to maximize return on investment.
  • Implement rehabilitation plans in line with approved Environmental Management Programmes.
  • Liaise with local authorities regarding all mining-related operational matters.
  • Ensure the sustainability of mining operations by meeting budgetary targets for exploration and ore deposit enhancement.
