Zambia Daily Mail Limited

The Zambia Daily Mail is a Limited Company wholly owned by the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). The Company is incorporated under the Companies Act, number 10 of 2017 of the Laws of Zambia. It is one of the leading publishers of daily newspapers in Zambia.

The Company has vacancies for the position of Reporters and is now inviting suitably qualified and ambitious Zambians to apply and be considered for the positions in the editorial department.

The Job Purpose:

To source and write news articles for publication in the Zambia Daily Mail newspaper.

Core Duties Include:

  • To conceive new and compelling story ideas
  • To identify events, or information sources which lead to stories worth publishing in the newspaper
  • To establish and maintain reliable news sources
  •  To prepare and submit diary of stories to the editor or chief reporter
  • To write well researched, accurate and quality news and features articles
  • To develop stories with a wide range of voices and perspectives
  • To perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the chief reporter or supervising editor

Expected competencies and experience

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • High levels of integrity and honesty
  • Well-organized and highly skilled in reporting and writing diverse story forms
  • Ability to mine through huge documents to extract good stories

Terms of Engagement

The successful candidate shall be engaged on contractual basis.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Full Grade 12 certificate with Credit or better in English
  • At least 3 years ‘experience in news reporting and writing Diploma/Degree in Journalism/Mass communication
