Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible to provide technical support, leadership, coaching and supervision for the operation across all drill and blast activities.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage and control all drilling and blasting activities including contractors .
  • Understand drill and blast cost targets in conjunction with the daily, weekly, and monthly mining plans that correspond with the yearly production target.
  • Ensure all mining activity is being monitored and any non-conformances are being addressed through short interval control process.
  • Report on Drill and Blast performance and coordinate all drilling /blasting schedules.
  • Ensure coordinators and supervisors are adequately advised and supported with information to enable the immediate work area to be managed appropriately in accordance with the governing statutory requirements.
  • Monitor the costs of explosives contractors and do comparisons with other explosive suppliers from time to time .
  • Provide data and information in accordance with the Management Operating System and short interval control system.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of Ten (10) years’ experience in a senior production supervisory role within the mining industry
  • Experience in large multi pit operations utilizing large scale mining equipment ie drill rigs and blasting experience essential.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a developing country is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness.
