Reporting to the Mining Manager, you will be responsible for providing technical support, leadership, coaching and supervision for the operation across all Load and Haul Section.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure weekly and daily plans as well as KPI’s are communicated to and understood by Superintendents, Coordinators, and supervisors.
  • Identify any non-conformances to KPI’s resulting from repeat contributing factors and liaise with required stakeholders to develop and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Ensure all mining activity is being monitored and any non-conformances are being addressed through short interval control process.
  • Ensure effective communication between supervisors, dispatch, and operators.
  • Continually monitor performance and compare against production KPI’s.
  • Mentor the national Superintendents, Coordinators, and supervisors to ensure effective performance feedback is provided regularly to the entire department to Identify risks in the work area and use of correct controls.
  • Lead and motivate subordinates to demand high standards of performance in all areas to achieve agreed targets.
  • Assist in the optimization of the mine plan by providing advice to reduce non-productive time due to unscheduled service, relocation, fleet selection and non-optimal haul profiles

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of Ten (10) years’ experience in open pit mining industry.
  • High level understanding of all relevant registration affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry.
  • Experience in large multi open pit open pit operations utilizing large scale mining equipment i.e.. drills, electrical shovels.
  • Confident in incident /accident investigation
