Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Financial Superintendent – FS (Fixed Term) to join the versatile Commercial Department under Mineral Resources Management – FS Section. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Capital Manager – FS, you will ensure that organisation’s accounting policies, procedures and standards are implemented effectively and, in a manner, consistent with the efficient and timely payment of all suppliers and employees, and compliance with applicable international standards.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Ensuring that the organisations accounting policies, procedures, and standards are implemented effectively and, in a manner, consistent with the development of a cost-conscious culture in the workforce.
- Preparation and presentation of cost reports monthly for site management.
- Analysing data from costs reports to assure management that costs are being effectively monitored and remedial action is being taken to correct unfavorable variances.
- Supporting the development, implementation and continual audit of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company requirements for;
- Accounting Records and standards
- Taxation
- Asset protection and internal financial controls.
- Continually monitor costs whilst proactively identifying and implementing cost effective initiatives to optimize procurement and other expenditure for the Feasibility Study (FS) Project.
- Prepare and manage the budget for the Feasibility Study (FS) Project.
- Ensure the development and maintenance of up-to-date job procedures for all tasks performed within the function.
- Develop objectives for sharing common infrastructure and support services across Barrick and cascade this throughout the Project.
- Ensure effective communication with delegate prior to departure from site
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 certificate
- Degree in Accounting or Professional Qualification such as ACCA / CIMA.
- Member of Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants.
- Minimum Ten (10) years’ experience with at least five (5) years in mining in a senior commercial/ accounting role.
- Sound understanding and experience of the principles and practice in accounting and contracts.
- Must have a valid Zambian driver’s licence.
- Be physically fit and be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and show a commitment to understand local culture and impart your mining operations and technical knowledge to subordinates.
