U.S. Embassy in Zambia

The U.S. Embassy in Zambia invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced professionals to fill a Computer Management Assistant (CMA) position. The CMA provides hands-on support to our users and must enjoy interacting with users and be passionate about providing in-person and remote support, from basic, Tier 1-level questions up to more complicated Tier 2-level troubleshooting. The candidate must possess good oral and written communication skills and be detail-oriented. S/he must be comfortable escalating more complicated questions to local managers and remote support teams in the United States for Tier 3 support.

The ideal candidate must learn about the unique systems and work environment of the Embassy, where stability and security are prized above being at the cutting edge of technology. S/he must become an expert in the many regulations and policies that apply to our work and IT operations. The candidate must be comfortable working in our highly restricted government environment, often without full access to the systems being managed.

The candidate works as part of a team and shares responsibility for the management, administration, operation, and maintenance of Post’s Sensitive But Unclassified (SBU) Local Area Network (LAN), Dedicated Internet Network (DIN), fiber optic tail circuits, telephone systems, mobile communication devices, portable communications devices, Audio Visual (AV) systems, radio systems, all other Automated Digital Processing (ADP) input/output devices, and all systems’ associated hardware and software.
