Reporting to the Process Manager, you will be responsible in assisting the Process Manager in the design, construction, maintenance and management of the Tailings Storage Facility and water storage dam as advised by the EoR.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure the tailings deposition systems are constructed and operated within life of mine (LOM) depositional requirements
  • Overseeing interactive development of Tailing Storage Facilities final design drawings and documentation through to effective communication to the construction team
  • Overseeing that required tailings deposition infrastructure, methods and operations as well as embankment design work is completed on time and in line with LOM operational requirements
  • Communicating all design related decisions and outcomes EoR and manager.
  • Understanding overall requirements for timing of construction activities in order to meet operational requirements
  • Managing the functions of construction quality control (CQC) activities and oversee construction quality assurance (CQA) on all TSF construction activities
  • Compilation of all required reporting including daily, weekly and monthly monitoring reports, monthly stewardship documents and annual construction reports
  • Regular monitoring of the performance of any geotechnical structures, observing and reporting on effectiveness of maintenance of all TSF facilities
  • Advising the Engineer of Record if medium- or long-term filling plans need adjustment
  • Verifying that operational freeboard (including factors of safety), storm water channels and access routes are properly maintained and reporting to Operations management any remedial actions that are required.
  • Managing the TSF risk register which includes identifying risks with operations and stakeholders throughout the mine life cycle, developing corrective actions to mitigate risk and monitor implementation of corrective actions

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering/Geotech Engineering or equivalent
  • Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar
  • Specialized focus on tailings dam breach analysis
  • Hydraulic and geotechnical engineering components related to Tailing’s Storage Facilities
  • Numerous complex mining projects and implementation and coordination of the alignment to the newly published “Global Industry Standards on Tailings Management”
  • Think methodically and to manage projects at the TSF
  • Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar
