Job Description

Purpose

• This job will involve movement of various items from/ to workshops and across site.
• To manage issuance of tools and management of consumables and spares for the workshop buffer stores.
• Facilitate movement of spares and also managing stock levels of consumables for workshop stores.

Key Responsibilities

The holder this position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

• Carrying out routine vehicle check-ups and completion of vehicle check log books
• Maintaining a log book of trips and operations
• Accurately loading and unloading of trucks with materials by using a folk lift
• Maintain the integrity of goods through proper handling and storage.
• Control and ensure safe operation of the Equipment/vehicles.
• Stack and retrieve goods at the specified locations in a safe manner.
• Ensure periodic light vehicle/equipment service maintenance is complied with.
• Keep the Equipment/vehicles clean inside and outside.
• Ensuring loads are correctly placed and secured
• Ensuring that the equipment/vehicle being used is in a clean and roadworthy condition.
• Perform such other duties as may be assigned to him/her by the Supervisor from time to time.
• Assists when necessary in the storage of goods in the proper storage area
• Supervises the filling of delivery orders and ensures that proper quantities and types of goods are being placed.
• Receives and unpacks goods, checks packing slips against stock received and records incoming materials
• Responsible for stores safety, security and hygiene
• The call-off and management of consumables and plant, which are not included in the main project bill of materials
• Check deliveries against advice notes and for quality, quantities & damage
• Unload & load lorries/vans
• Any other duties as may be required by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Must be a Grade 12 with minimum of a Pass or Better in English and Mathematics
• Able to understand Zambian Highway code as an added advantage.
• Must be mentally and physically fit
• Holder of class C driver’s license is a must.

Experience

• A minimum of 2 years and above with at least mining industry background

• Must be Able to work with minimum supervision
• Sober minded and self-discipline
• Self-motivated person

Operational Requirements

• By virtue of his/her training, knowledge and experience, able to identify any threat or Potential threat to the safety or health of persons employed in or at the mine or works in question.
• Conversant with the applicable requirements relating to the safety and health of Employees, whether or not those requirements have the force of law.
• Knowledge of basic mechanics added advantage
• Experience in TLB and Tractor driving/operation would be an added advantage
